Selling a pair of legendary Tim de Paravicini EAR 509 monoblocks, the later MkII versions which are much easier to bias (can be done from the top plate) not that you need to very often as the power valves are rated for 20,000 hours!
100w push-pull power mean these monsters can drive anything at all, ideal for electrostatics. What struck me most are their surprising ability with bass, together with the overall transparency they have - the specs they they are flat from 8 hz to 25khz and the sound bears that out.
They have a volume control on the input so are very easy to match with preamps.
I'm told by the previous owner that they were serviced at EAR around a year ago but I haven't been able to verify this as EAR haven't got back to me.
I got these for a very reasonable price, decided (very tough call) to go down a different route for the Tannoys, so selling them very cheaply to ease cashflow. The current models (still Mk IIs) are identical electronically, the only difference is a bit of bling on the casework, but the list price is £10,000. I'm looking for £1650. A pretty dramatic high-end bargain.
Prefer collection from Berkshire, I do have the original boxes which are pretty well padded, however I don't really want to take the risk on shipping if avoidable.
