Awaiting archiving, the rest are in the loft...

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w63/greatgig/cd1-2.jpg

The last 4 months purchases (about 180) as I ran out of the black/orange boxes as above.
Putting them on Ikea racks took up an entire wall and was growing rapidly, so I gave them to a fellow AoS member - this is just one of the reasons I have switched to file based audio ;)

I only have a couple of hundred vinyl left, which are also in storage right now, as I don't have a TT (at the moment!).

Once again I've run out of space...

The black cases contain pre-recorded cassettes.

Lurking behind the couch are four more crates of LP's and additional spillage of cassettes and vinyl.

Somewhere, behind there, is a quite nice fireplace.

78 rpm's in the bedroom. (SWMBO just loves that.)

What's left of the pressed CD's.

Yep, all settled in. In the process of getting the garden sorted at the moment, you'll have to come up and see it some time!

Can someone please explain why people would want to show off their CD collection  CD's should be boxed away or in a closed cabinet imho..

Because they still have a tactile quality, ok so not the same as vinyl but friends still like to browse them and pick one out when they call round. I know they are as cheap as chips nowadays but my cd collection has been put together over 20+ years since i bought my first system and it represents a considerable investment over that time and reflects my changing tastes through the years.

My discs are all ripped and currently reside in a closed cupboard but I'd love to have them all on shelves if space would permit, I like nothing more than when a friend or family member goes browsing and sees something they remember and asks to hear it.

Here's what i do because at the end of the day they worthless pieces of crap.

Throw the Jewel case & inlay in the bin, put the disc in an protective bag (The ones you use for Japanese card sleeve editions to protect the disc), put that then in an high quality CD Wallet (a sliff one that doesnt flop about), slip the booklet/cover down the back of the wallett. Store them in alphabetically sectioned order upright in a specially adapted set of drawers! simples  you can get thousands in a small space out of site.

People put large amounts of CD's on show for one of two reasons of which i'll not mention for fear of hitting a raw nerve :fence:

You can pretty much guarentee these same people have tons of pointless boxes within their system :rfl:
