Hello from Herefordshire

Hi,

After a number of house moves, I've been getting my hifi kit out of storage and set up.

I'm currently running a QED A240CD amp (which I'm planning to re-cap fairly soon), fed by a venerable Philips CD304 CD player (built like the proverbial brick toilet), and feeding a pair of Wharfedale 504s and a Yamaha YST sub-woofer. There's also a Quad FM4 tuner, and a Sony Blu-Ray player in the mix as well. Mobile listening is ably handled by a Sony MZ-RH1 HiMD player (which in my opinion) has the sweetest sound of almost anything you can carry in your pocket.

I've also had in store a Quad 33 and 405-2 combination which I'm thinking of getting upgraded by Red Hill Audio - does anyone have any experience of them?

Hi Michael, a warm welcome to the forum :) Sorry, can't help with the people doing upgrades to Quad equipment, I tend to do any myself given time...

Hopefully someone may well be of help in that area, meanwhile I hope you enjoy your stay!

Oh, just remembered :eyebrows: What type/s of music do you listen to? Keeps it all going at the end of the day..

Music...

Very ecclectic - ranging from mediaeval, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, through to modern dance/folk fusion and techno.

Discs sitting by my computer at the moment - The Smiths, David Bowie, Imogen Heap, Katzenjammer, David Sylvian, The Creatures....

In the other room - Vaughan Williams Symphonies, Arnold Bax, Victoria, Marconi Union, Richard Hawley, Tom Petty, Afro Celt Sound System...

You get the picture...

Generally, I steer clear of rap and hip-hop... :) :)

...and my prog rock collection is also vanishingly small... :)

Thanks for the welcome folks.

Another poster on this forum (Jules68) has used Red Hill Audio to work on his Quad amp, and has been a stalwart source of information - for which I'm most grateful.

Trouble is, I now feel there could be a CD player upgrade coming at some point in the not too distant future....
