Hey peeps.

This is a bit late as I have had it for a few months, but I felt like I needed to try out a new Pre (was previously using a diy totally passive pre, and my Beresford Caiman built in pre).

My dad pointed me towards the designs for the Pass B1 buffer and it looked good with lots of good feedback. Very simple - so I said go on then dad order the bits we need.

Luckily I already had the MODU case from a previous DIY valve amp project (which didn't go very well) so the actual cost to me of building this was just a few pounds really as we used fairly basic off the shelf components from maplin/RS, no capacitor or resistor foo here, basic dual mono power supply and an alpls blue pot.

I love it - it sounds great. It's easily seen of all comers so far. My dad was so impressed he immediatly ordered all the bits to build a second one for himself!

I am actually quite tempted to build a higher spec one with lots of cap/resistor foo and maybe a bigger PSU just to see what the difference is.

Those internals would put a heck of a lot of production units to shame IMO. Just routing wires into neat right angles with loads of cable ties ain't enough :)

It's got a nice feel and the LED is not too bright either I hate bright LEDs.

Do you have any details of your PSU?

Hi the PSU my dad built it's a simple dual mono regulated design giving 18v using LM317. Seems to do the job very nicely and was very cheap to build.
