Stan the man has been in touch and is posting out a Gator board with AD826 op amps for my Caiman.
It will be a nervous time fitting the board when it arrives, but I am looking forward to some serious listening of my favourite tracks to appreciate the benefit.
>> I just needed to tell someone, and the only people I could tell who would understand are on this forum. So apologies for my self indulgence :D

Stan sent me one a couple of months ago and I found it very easy to fit Guy . If I can do it anyone can :D The upgrade is well worth the money and effort IMHO. Good luck mate . Keep us posted .

Gator is fantastic, and easy-peasy to fit in. It will take your DAC to the next level.
Might I suggest you order the Bushmaster? It surely beats any DAC I've ever heard!
I'd remove the Gator board from my Caiman if I had something to replace it with as I believe it is the source of the problems I'm having with the unit :(
Dave, ask Stan, as it seems people are either delighted with it, or have clipping? issues, which way well be in the input of the line stage on some amps. Sorry to butt in, but Alex_UK had this issue with one amp and changing the latter cured it I understand.
There's no way I'm going to lose the DR5 just to keep the Caiman happy Dave, I'd rather return the Caiman to stock spec. Unfortunately the Gator board was factory fitted by Stan so I've no stock board to replace it with. I'm intending to buy a Bushmaster before Christmas so the intention was to grin and bear it for the moment, however the clipping issue is gradually getting worse and it now affects all the inputs (apologies for butting in chaps).

Dave, have you tried attenuators between the DAC and amp? I use -6dB for mine. Allows me to get the volume past 9 o'clock. It might help with your distortion problem. Just a thought. :eyebrows:

Well if all goes well with my upgrade, I presume I would have a Caiman stock board that you could use. I would be happy to post it to you rather than leave it sat in a drawer unused.
EDIT = By the time I wrote this and hit Post, I see you've had two offers already for the same stock board. What a great forum!
