I`m not familiar with presenting myself in this way, but i´ll give it a try:
I´m 56 years old, norwegian, grown up with "the british invasion" in the 60´s, developed an interest in music from listening to AM radio in the 60/70´s. Radio Lux and Radio Caroline was the favourites, and this made learning english in school a lot easier. Bought a Sony mono casette player (and a pre recorded tape: Led Zeppelin II) when i was 14 - witch led to an interest in sound improvement - and hifi.
Since then i have had some tt´s, tape recorders, casette recorders, radios, amplifiers, and speakers of many kinds. I still have a some on the shed, and i play with it from time to time.
I now have Lenco L 75, Philips CDp - upgraded by myself, Croft pre amplifier, Parasound power amplifier, and a pair of home made TQWT´s as my main set-up. This equipment delivers the dynamic, clear and warm sound that i like.

Welcome to the forum Johan! You started out just like me, though for me it was John Peel and a Tandy cassette recorder :)

Music: 60/70 Rock: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Little Feat, Zappa, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Bob Dylan, CSNY, Van Morrisson, Velvet Underground, Nick Drake - and so on.
New Wave/Punk: The Jam, Clash, Stranglers, Ramones, Patti Smith, etc
Jazz: 50/60 modal jazz - Miles, Coltrane, Monk, Blakely...
Modern jazz: Chick Korea, Jan Garbarek...

I guess i`m not alone in taste as well.

I have some old Tandberg radios and open reel recorders, but not in regular use. Tandberg was at their best with tape and radio. Their amps and speakers are not highly regarded - with some exeptions. The best of Tandberg is very expensive here, because of all the collectors. You must pay approx 5000 NOK (500 pounds) for the top of the line reciewer in ´79 - the TR 2080 - and that is expensive for being 33 years old. The world reciewer "Huldra 10" is regarded as the best of the radios (as reciewer - not as amp) ever, and i have one on the shelf. They sell for about 150 pounds if in good shape.
I have some of the modestly priced stuff, and it is high quality as well. 40 - 50 years old radios with nearly unbeatable reception - even today, and tape recorders still working stable after some 40 years on the shelf.

Tandberg was a great factory and the end of it was sad. The owner comitted suicide after being shut out of his own factory by gowenment men. And after the bankruptcy they found much of liquid values. Tandberg was in fact newer bankrupt.

My goodness - that is shocking news! Tandberg always had a very good reputation here in the UK.

In my student days I used a tandberg 3000 reel-to-reel recorder. I thought it much superior to the Akai 4000, a very popular deck at the time.

The Tandberg cassette recorder was one of the best ever: up there with Revox-Studer or Nakamichi.

The Tandberg 3014A is reputed to be the best tape deck ever, period. I've never heard or seen one in the flesh myself though, but I would love to. There are though tape decks and tape decks - some good for record and playback, some better suited to playback. I have a penchant for decks that can make the best of any tape, no matter what nail it was originally recorded on. The 3014A has playback azimuth adjustment, so ticks that box nicely. It would be interesting to have it head to head versus a fully-fettled Nak CR7. They are however rarer than winged unicorns no matter what the price :rolleyes:

And Therese is the TCD 910, which was built for pro- use, and even more selsom seen. Somre say it is the best Tandberg cassette deck ever.

Yes, the recievers 200 and 1000 are among the highest regarded in Norway, because of the sound. Some say the 1000 is the best of all.
