Finally got some Isonoes and some sorbethane boots for my SL-1210, and I've been playing records in preference to anything else for the last couple of days.

I'm well chuffed :)

I hear nothing but good about the VA feet too :)

Nice one, Chris. What sonic improvements would you say they've provided over what you were using before?

Everything hangs together as a more coherent whole.

I'm able to more easily pick up on subtle rhythmical interplay too - I've got Frank Zappa's "Studio Tan" on at the moment, something I'm very familiar with, and it's totally captivating.
Music for guitar & low budget orchestra is coming across superbly.

The only downside to VA feet is that you lose the ability to level the deck...

The Issones are better than stock feet for sure and just look great too on the Techie :)

They do look good in a kind of North Sea oil production platform kind of way :eyebrows:

I see , I haven't heard from Richard in some time ? A little concerned to be honest.

Good move, Chris. Isonoes do a remarkable job of isolating and cleaning up the sound. I also think they look good (immaterial, but a bonus). My oil platform look is completed by the Dynavector 'gantry'.

I'll keep you posted.
I too hope that Richard is ok, and not for any selfish reasons.

I think the Isonoes are in keeping with the almost industrial chic of the Technics.
They do work tremendously well too, and my deck is well isolated to start with :eyebrows:

Martin, I thought that you might like to see a picture of my old 200W ECS monoblocks, before I went 'all thermionic'... ;) Oh look, there's a KAB PSU - remember those?

Not ones I'm familiar with, Marco, although I've seen them around.

Marco.

Marco do you really have that many mana stands under your tt ? Would it not be more space efficient to find a material with mass and high materials stiffness to minimise vibrantion getting to your tt. This could be further improved by sitting the material on 6mm sorbothane. There is a law of diminishing returns with all this stuff ;)

I have been trying to contact him for awhile now, maybe he is on holiday?

Lets hope he's ok if not though!!

Hi Andrew,

Marco do you really have that many mana stands under your tt ?

YES, as nothing else I've used has been remotely as sonically effective, and besides, it's there now, and I ain't moving it! :eyebrows:

Might be worth moving the amp to the other stack Marco, to keep the transformers' RF away from your Techie.

Marco
07-08-2012, 12:33
Hi Ali,

It's an old picture, matey. The amp is now on top, and the Techie underneath. Besides, the speaker cables won't reach if the amp is any further away than it is now :)

It must be a bugger trying to cue up a record when there is a low cloud base :D Do you get many requests from local rock climbers asking it they can climb your racks to brush up on their technique Marco? I'm sure I spotted a wee flag planted on top of the taller of your 'Twin Peaks' ;)
