Thorens 160B with a RB300 arm. 95% finished project, ( Needs new belt, fine on 33 but lazy on 45 speed. plinth resprayed, base plate 9mm thickness, some damping added to inside of plinth. The hinges are excellent, cover has some marks but very good for age. Happy with collection, ( Middlesbrough) or can post at buyers risk. Will seperate eg. Arm, Plinth, Motor board. Platter Stainless steel arm board etc. Looking for minimum £125 for arm, £80 for 160 minus arm. Open to offers above the minimum. Failing the above it looks like an ebay job.

Wish my 160 II looked as good. My plinth has scuffs, the top plate's ok I think but the platter is dull.

Good luck with the sale. I think the resrained sonics of the RB300 actually works really well with the looser presentation of the Thorens. Just needs a better mat is all I reckon and there's plenty about cork or acrylic for twenty notes...

Duraglit wadding or brasso will transform your platter. Must say I was shagged-out after doing mine. And that was 35 years ago when I was a lot younger.

Kind Regards

I used to know an expert platter polisher, got his LP12 platters like mirrors! Trouble is, you have to keep doing it ;) Mine will have the wide "damping strap" to disguise the visible dullness, which doesn't affect the sonics as far as I can hear. This helps me to push-start the platter as well, as even the clutch fitted to the 160 and 125mk2 series puts a bit more stress on the belt than I'd like.
