Hello to all those who have ventured to investigate just what I mean by "lesser-known Japanese components".

Briefly I'm an Aussie who has a small collection of less well known Japanese gear. The Brands are well known(Yamaha,Kenwood),the components,in some cases were/are rarely seen outside of Japan.

The principle one would be my Turntable, the Yamaha GT 2000.
The Treble amp in my diy activated system(it's an integrated amp)is also a rarity outside of the Sushi Isles; The Kenwood L-A1.

I have a few other not particularly rare, but also not particularly plentiful Japanese pieces, like the Yamaha C2x preamp, the Kenwood 700C preamp and the Yamaha B-2 Power amp.

I've been into Hi-Fi for over 30 years, and am more interested in it as means of extracting music from the software(vinyl records,in my case),than I am in collecting gear for collection's sake.

If this post attracts any interest,I will detail things a little further.
If not,I will enjoy reading other people's posts.

The TT looks like an impressive piece of kit!

Presuming this is the one?

That's it alright. :)
Though the one in the pic on TVK,is sitting in the optional cradle.Mine's just the center portion of that contraption.
It's an awesome sounding beast also.. :eyebrows:

Thanks for the welcome.
The average poster here seems to know a thing or two.I'll have a look around and enjoy the discussions.

Fascinating! How do you buy them? Japan does not appear on eBay as we know it?

I imported it from Japan. The Kenwood L-A1 and the Accuphase F-25 active crossover also.
The L-A1 has a page on TVK as well.

Here's a good source Dave, it's actually in HK I think, but lots of Japanese gear... Some of the prices are a bit scary though! :stalks:

There is an English chap who works at http://www.kuboten.com/ and who can source and post just about any piece of Japanese kit out to the UK. I happened to run into him on head-fi and he helped me to get hold of a pair of headphones that I couldn't find anywhere else than in Japan at the time.

I've bought, but not yet been sent, another Japanese rarity.
The Kenwood L-1000M power amp.

http://www.thevintageknob.org/KENWOOD/L1000M/L1000M.html

I don't know where in my system that I'll use it yet.I'll try substituting it for the other amps and leave in place, the best performer.

The last L-1000M I saw for sale was over 5 years ago.

This is a L-1000M user comment:
