I have just ordered a DIN to RCA cable to connect the Goldring Lenco TT to my amp to see if it works
after ordering I noticed it states
BRAND NEW
2 x RCA Phono Plugs to 5 PIN MIDI DIN Plug
Pins 3 and 5 connected
Does anyone know if the Lenco uses pins 3 and 5 ? or is this sort of standard ?
Cheers
Does that mean the shield is the earth? I thought at least one of the pins was earth normally..
For the standard that you get with tape I/O etc it is 3 & 5 for left and right going in with the middle pin (called '2') being a shared earth. 1 & 4 are for output connections.
Any cheap old tape, 4 x RCA -> 5-pin din will let you know what's connected by swapping things around.
Anyway, it doesn't matter if it's 'standard' or not... what you want is something that matches your Lenco!
If the Lenco isn't standard then..
Err, alternatively just get some RCA plugs and put them on the cable! You can get screw fit ones these days too if you don't like soldering.

If you have a DIN plug on the Lenco, you will need a DIN socket on the adaptor lead.

This is what I ordered

The old lenco interconnects are bad by now with oxidised copper screens at least. I know I bang on about the L75 arms not being as bad as the image painted of them, but this is ALWAYS after taking a new set of interconnects from the terminal block under a typical Lenco platter..

If your Lenco has a DIN plug output, which they usually do, you will need a DIN socket to phono. Not a plug.

I know but that is a plug and you need a socket.

As Dave R mentions just pop off the platter & in front of your eyes is a square tag board, just replace the external interconnect cable, jobs a good un.

Ah ok then you are best with a lead afterall.. pair Phonos to 5 Pin Din wired for Pin 3 (Left Out)/Pin 5 (Right Out) = Pin 2 Ground.
Any old tape cable will do. They usually have 4 x phonos -> DIN. Available from Maplin etc for a few quid.
The 4 phonos on those wires are for two-way signals, tape play and record. You would only use the red and white phonos, representing the standard output (tape play) wiring.
