I could not have a system that could not do bass. I found an old CD I forgot I had today. Ultimate Bass. I think it may have been sold with the ICE brigade in mind. However there are various frequencies to test your bass depth and quality.

I was surprised that I go down to 20Hz. It may go lower but the CD only tests to 20Hz. I was also surprised that none of the tracks upset the quality and I got clean bass from 20 - 100Hz:D:D

As the CD says "Use with caution - Bass frequencies can wreck speakers"

Bass in most domestic speakers is usually either lacking, or port-bound.. Most speakers will make a noise at 20Hz, but be warned, it'll be doubling or tripling - a sort of purring noise, where 20Hz is usually a push-in-the-chest pressure feeling I think..

I typed a load of stuff that would bore you lot to tears, so just to say that IMO, only BIG speakers do bass properly, not single subs and many subs don't do proper bass either, being big rumble boxes worse than any idler driven turntable and with limited real bass extension too, just loads of rumble at 30 - 40Hz

I'm running 2 subs and main speakers have 15" bass drivers. "Push in the chest pressure":D

Ohhh, I like a bit of bass. :)
A comment I’ve had in the past about my speakers is “they sound a bit bass heavy”.
Considering they don’t give a flat response down to 20 Hz, which is what accurate reproduction from a CD would be in an ideal system it makes one wonder what they’ve been listening too.
I can’t think of any speakers (separate sub systems excluded) that give a flat response down to 20 Hz. The nearest I’ve read of on these forums Frank’s (f1eng) which I believe manage 24 Hz +/- 3dB.

Why is this, due to integration?

I went to a rave where they had so much bass it made it hard to breathe. I hvae no idea if it was good quality or not, but it was bloody good fun, 96K watts of sub bass :eyebrows:

Or, BIG line arrays of LITTLE speakers.

Not the ones I heard at Audio World 2012. Didn't have a lot of bass IMO.

How could that work?

You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in sprinkles

Well, unfortunately for every case of effective implementation, there are perhaps, more instances of poor realisation. Across many disciplines.
I've not heard the system that you use as an example.

A good place to start on this forum is in Paul's thread, here:
