I'm a lurker who decided to pull my finger out, get legit and finally join up.
My Hi-Fi interest started about 22 years ago when I worked in an AV retail store and slowly started picking up reasonable gear when I could afford it. I started with a Kenwood gear. [pre/power amp (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g10/R107roadster/kenwood_KC-KM209.jpg), 6+1 multi CD, Dolby B+C cassette deck and a Kenwood Pro Logic surround amp added with a Mitsubishi S-VHS stereo VCR]. As Dolby Digital came out I switched to a Pioneer 5.1 AVR, then a Marantz 6.1 AVR and now I am back to another Pioneer 7.1 THX AVR. For speakers, over the past 15 years I have hunted down and collected a set of classic M&K THX sat/speakers (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g10/R107roadster/P1010699.jpg) & subs (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g10/R107roadster/MKsubbystack.jpg).
As you can see my interest is mainly HT but recently I have started to go back and lift my music appreciation when I picked up a great Technics CD player (http://vintagetechnics.co.uk/cdplayers/slps900.htm) that I've wanted for 20 years. I'm using the optic out from the new[old] CD player into the on-board Wolfson/Burr Brown DAC in my AVR and I've been blown away by difference it made!:eek:
My music tastes are pretty varied:
Blues - Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, John Lee Hooker, SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, John Butler.
Classics - Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Joy Division/New Order.
Hard Rock- Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, System of a Down, Deep Purple, Linkin Park.
I've found time lately to get back into playing blues harmonica and bass guitar but over the next 12 months I will be kept busy building a 2 story rear extension to my home with a dedicated music/HT room.
In the meantime I hope I can contribute to this forum.
Cheers:cool::D
