Yes, really! The time has finally come for me to part company with my lovely Yammy's... it's just time to move on and try something different!

There's nothing wrong with these at all, all the drivers are in perfect working order, (tweeter protection is fitted - finding replacements is tricky these days and when you do come across any good ones they can be pretty damn expensive), the level adjustment T-Pads are fully functioning, and the veneer, being only a little over a year old is perfect! The stands are also included. Aside from the cosmetic refurbishment they also benefit from being re-wired with Atlas Hyper 1.5 OFC cable, the stupid spring clips have been replaced with proper binding posts, and the nasty fibreglass 'loft insulation' has been replaced with lambswool/polyester internal damping... the original stuff has been bagged up and kept though.

These are not the best pictures in the world (I'll take some better ones and add them) but should give you an idea.

Now this might seem a bit steep, but I'm asking £1000 for these which is about two thirds of what they've cost me to get them into this fantastic condition... I'm also a very reasonable chap and open to negotiation. :)

Feel free to ask any questions, viewers welcome, demo's a pleasure!

The last picture I added just for the hell of it. :D The speakers really do look a lot better "in the flesh", the pictures don't do them justice... but don't take my word for that. Come and have look and listen for yourself!!!

Cheers...

Sheeeesh, it only seems like yesterday that you posted the pics of these after collecting them from Topsy - don't time fly!!
I'd have them off you in a flash but currently I'm about £950 short of the necessary  .
Good luck with the sale and I hope you don't miss them too much :) . What you gonna replace 'em with?
Dave.

How charming. A sensitively updated classic speaker at a fair price. These deserve a good home.

Hi Guys

I have seen and heard Mike's Yammies on quite a lot of occassions and they do sound great and look the part in a big way too.
Fantastic speakers.

I also may have to hold my hand up and admit I just 'may' be responsible for Mike's desicion to look at something else.
My trap is shut on what he is looking at :D.
Good luck with the sale Mike

Don't they just look great :stalks:
I will allways regret selling the pair I had.

I would love to have these off you but I would have to sell my 57's to fund the purchase. My 57's are really good having been fully rebuilt by "One Thing" including uprated treble panels, widgets and Russ Collinson legs.

Don't suppose your new quest is for a wonderful pair of Quads finest? :eyebrows:

I hope you don't regret selling them, they look so much better than the usual black fake veneer.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I will regret parting with them one day, we've had quite a 'journey' together... it's just one of those things. I can't keep every pair of speakers! ;)

That really is the problem for me as well. I generally have to sell something to buy the next piece of equipment and much as I would love to keep everything you can only warrant keeping so much equipment, as it will only sit in storage or in another room not being used much.

Who did the veneer work on them Mike?

Look up "Toppsy" on here or http://www.audio-talk.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3396 :)

Just had a look through your gallery pics of the NS1000's and their veneering by Toppsy from the "baboon arse" red to Oak  Nice.

These should sell no problem I would have thought as a basic standard pair go for around £750 or more and some look pretty rough too. Yours include those lovely stands as well.

Wow! Nice system pic. I just looked up the Jolida Music Envoy Monoblocks. I had to find out what they were. How do they compare the other power amps you've had?

Do the need dedicated stands to make them sound better etc? Are your stands included in price at all? Or, can the Yammy's sit on the floor as a floor stander?

The stands are included... I've never tried them just sat on the floor though!

Dunno why, but the wood looks all rough down the left hand side in the first picture...

It isn't!... It's some sort of digital camera tomfoolery.

Does that mean we can now make "baboons arse red" jokes? ;)

Mike

You could have anyway.

Wouldn't have bothered me, I christened them that in the first place! :)

Alex_UK
19-07-2012, 19:22
Yep, but I didn't want to scare anyone off!! I always liked them "battered ring-piece scarlet" but I must say Colin did a great job with them. :)

Mike
19-07-2012, 19:26
Yeah, they looked kinda cool in red. Well, I'm sure they did when the paint was fresh, but they were starting to look a bit battered when they arrived chez Mike. Anyway, I think the oak looked better and it needed to be done. :)

Onward and upward!

I just wish it had been me that bought them.

Will you let us know soon what you replaced them with?

Thanks for a hassle free transaction Mike, and best of luck with the replacements, you've made a good choice there, but don't forget about treating your room, you'll need it to get the best from them. ;-)

Nice one Mark - congrats, they are a lovely pair of speakers. :)

They're actually Simon's now... he left them with Mark to play with while he went out for dinner.

I feel kinda pleased they've been given a new lease of life, largely thanks to Toppsy's efforts, and will continue to be enjoyed for years to come. Hopefully.

Looking forward to tomorrow now. Off to see my prospective new babies! :door:

Nice to meet you, mate!
