WHY?

What's the purpose of this thread, mate? If it doesn't have a constructive purpose, then it's getting binned, pronto!

Marco.

Think he means 'What have you?'

Yes, WHY = What Have You.

Sorry, I thought that was common knowledge on wanted adverts. Thank you for the lovely reply though :)

Well, it's not "common knowledge", as far as I'm concerned. However, apologies for my last post. I thought you were taking the piss!

Marco.

Perhaps you're just not common enough?

You are very defensive over the 1210 though aren't you? :)

The whole reason why I'm here and after a Techie is because of a thread you commented on a great deal - Tim's SL-1210 Adventure.

Try ebay, most do!

There are at least 20 for sale on there.

OK - I've been offered the following on another forum:-

An '09 model, with Timestep psu and SME armboard (no arm) mint condition hifi use only.

and:-

A MkII, about 5 years old, domestic use only. Immaculate condition. It's currently fitted with an Origin Live Rega RB250 with internal/external rewire and OL counter-weight. It's the current 3 point mount model, and has an armboard to match. I also have the original Technics arm boxed up and never used.

What would you guys say the value of these two would be and which of the two would you prefer?

I realise this is very subjective, some people may prefer one deck over the other but as I say I'm a complete novice and any advice is appreciated.

Alex,

Have you thought of holding out for a SP10?, probably work out cheaper in the long run.

I did briefly consider it but have decided that the age and parts problem could well be an issue.

Fair enough, just thought i'd give you a different take on the Techie thing, whatever version you go for,
you're in the right place as the owner of this forum and his comrades will walk you to your ultimate goal to a Techie of your dreams,
good luck hunting. :)

Are you an SP10 owner?

Nope, simply "defensive" of ensuring that it is represented fairly, the same as any other T/T.

Other than here, I don't participate in the Classifieds sections of other sites, so thus am not au fait with the usual lingo. It's also the type of misunderstanding that tends to happen when few words are used by the OP, in order to describe something, or in this case, when placing an advert.

That's why I construed your orignal post as being a piss take, and wrongly took it to mean: "Why would anyone want a Technics SL-1210?" I trust you can now appreciate the reasons for my mistake :)

Anyway, Alex, apologies again for the misunderstanding and I hope that you get all the information you need, in order to make the right decision on what T/T to buy

I've said this before about Marco but you really can't fault his ability to wind his neck in when in the wrong. He comes out fighting but is swift to apologise when he's in error.
Cant fault you pal!

Don't know if you may be interested, someone else on here expressed a vague interest but hasn't logged onto the site in two weeks
