Hi guys, I've just joined the forum. I stumbled upon it while researching my next Hi Fi purchase which will be my first turntable.

My current system consists of:-

MacBook Pro
Audiolab M-DAC
Arcam DV139
Arcam AV8
Arcam P1000
B&W 805

I'm a Yorkshire lad but currently living in Benson, Oxfordshire. My music tastes are rock, pop and dance.
Other interests include; football - both playing and watching, motor sport - watching but I do enjoy taking my car on the track, time spent in the gym.

Looking forward to picking your brains on the forum and using your knowledge to help me with my turntable purchase....

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex, welcome from another new member. There a friendly bunch here so you will soon settle in.

What's your car if you take it on the track?

Car enthusiast as well? I have a Mitubishi Evo 6 TME. To be honest it hasn't been on track for quite some time, I bought a little Peugeot and converted it into a road going track car, unfortunately it didn't last very long before some clown looking at a fire engine drove into the back of the Pug at 60 mph, I was stationary waiting to turn into a petrol station.

I like motor racing as a sport, and I like cars but my tracktime (when I was younger) was bikes. My cars have been and still are quite boring, I currently drive a Honda. My bikes were another matter though

Haha, didn't expect to find many Evo fans here. I guess car nuts are everywhere though.... most find my car ridiculous. Girls hate it, even some of my friends hate it. It makes me smile though so screw 'em.

Thank you :D

Maybe you should try something a little more exciting, once a speed freak always a speed freak. ;)

No! am not a rally fan just that the infamous Evo 6 cropped into my head long time ago, avid F1 fan dating back to Jackie Stewart days. :)

My 1st love and boyhood wet dream was bicycle's, many a days dreaming about owning a Mercian or Flying Scot etc.. and bike parts and oil spots all over bedroom carpets to show for it, i could build and tune bikes better than i could tune TT's. :D

As for Rally cars, the only car i loved as a youngster was the Lancia Stratos and the most exciting period was the 80's Group B cars, don't know if you remembered them as you sound like a young man,it was all due to the Audi Quattro that revolutionised the scene but it came to a sad end when a driver and his co. on a Lancia was burned alive after a crash, the need for bigger engines and 4 wheel drive left no room for the petrol tank, so they put it under the floor plan and when it left the road, they were literally cremated on the spot, cars of that period was like F1 in the forest....ooop!,sorry for rabbiting on. :o

Yeah I was a young lad in the 80's. I absolutely love the Audi Quattro - beast of a machine - if it wasn't for that car the Evo wouldn't exist :)
I'd love to own a SWB Quattro one day, I've seen a fair few builds from scratch which are just stunning. I don't have the time, space, equipment, dedication or money to carry out such a project though.

Yes laddie ...:D, don't forget the upstarts that came after it, on top of my head, Peugeot 205,Metro 6R4,Ford R200,Lancia Delta etc...
each a devil spawn of the great Quattro. ;)
