View Full Version : SP10 Monolith Plinth...
Hi Guys,
I thought I would post some pic's of my Technics SP10 MKII and it's back breaking plinth.
I was very fortunate to purchase this SP10 and custom plinth earlier this year as an uncompleted project. The exterior is 20mm thick granite with 3 x layers of corian as the main core. About 45kgs total weight!
These pic's show how it was when I purchased it. The SP10 is in excellent condition too, the best I had seen! ;)

Good work Peter - looks really good, both the gorgeous black Granite plinth and the SP10. Do share with us what other lovelies are going to adorn her :eyebrows: ie: arm, phono cable etc - she clearly deserves the best.

Its a beauty mate, did you have to ship it in from the eastern states as I can't remember any hi fidelity shops in WA?
Heard an SP10 Mk3 plus granite plinth, 12" SME V arm, copper platter mat at a hi show over here in England, sounded bloody good :)
How is it going with the 'carbon tax' debacle?
Cheers
Ron
To me, that's a proper turntable :)

I haven't heard one either so I'm really keen to see how this pans out!

Hi Robbie,
I have some updated pic's I will post soon, but I have fitted a Jelco SA-750E arm and have a Goldring Elite MC on the way. I'm using a Jelco phono cable as well, though may consider upgrading that later.

Hi Ron, MKIII, mmmm one can only dream...... ;)
I was lucky that the seller of my SP10 lived 20 minutes from me. He renovated his house and in the process had his marble workers fabricate the plinth. As he had young children he never had the inclination to finish the project and it sat in storage for a couple of years before I was lucky enough to find out about it!!
OMG, the Gillard government!!! :mental::mental::mental: The carbon tax, mining tax, boat people, and corrupt ministers must make Australia look like a joke. We are a very wealthy country but it is being run very poorly by a completely inept government causing so much poverty. :steam: Its a disgrace!! Unuff said!
Here's the latest pic's showing the Jelco arm.

Well I remember hearing Nick's SP10 before and after it was "slated". The difference was not subtle to my ears.

So it was a positive difference then?
