View Full Version : Best way to house crossovers ?

Should they float in air or soft stuff, sit on spikes, be covered, sit in space ?

I have my Isobarik crossovers back from hfi_Dave. They work ! :)

Occurs to me I could probably place them better for sound
Currently the 12" x 12" PCB sits on about 4, or 6 bolts which connect to a piece of thick plywood.
This has double sided tape on it and sits on the base of the Iso stands.
Stereo cable comes in from the amp. 3 stereo cables go out to the base of the Iso's

There is also some wadding that I assume came as standard Linn that sits on top of the crossovers and on the top of that a piece of flexible polyurethane type material

Difficult to know as its been so long
My guess is that they do, *but* currently only played through the old 3 pair stereo cable with 2 ends not being used
Its a fair amount of work lugging Isobariks around plus all the other bits to move to get in where I need to - and the Tour de France is priority at the moment :)
Tonight some real comparisons

Well, proper test last night with some time to listen
David did you *do* something when you fettled the crossovers ?
There is more breadth and space in the sound. More bass, probably more clarity.
Surely there is little difference between before and after, just the one inout instead of 3 ?

Goes well with the LP12 fettling, fairy dust BS..:rolleyes:

Expectation was zero, maybe slight improvement, perhaps detectable
What I was after was simplification of the cables

The improvement in sound quality is a wonderful and significant bonus
A cheap upgrade !

Cut off all the extra speaker cables you have and aren't now using. Make sure all ends are tidy and not shorting.
