Maverick Festival

I spent the day last Saturday at Maverick Festival which specialises in Americana and roots music from both sides of the Atlantic, presenting music, comedy, dance, film & workshops and featuring over forty different artists across four stages indoors and out.
They also had some great local real ales (of which I had too many!) and all in all it was a great day. Small and friendly with everything on a local footing and nothing corporate, plus a great chance to mix and chat to the artists, who joined in watching other acts, signing albums and trying the local beers!
I managed to catch the following artists;
The Ginjammers
Amy Speace
The Rockingbirds
Ladies of the Canyon
Police Dog Hogan
Rose Cousins
Eve Selis & Band
Otis Gibbs (hilarious stories between songs)
Gretchen Peters
The highlights for me were Amy Speace and Gretchen Peters, but Eve Selis was not to be missed either as the sun shone down during the afternoon. A great day out.
My best mate took these videos of Eve Selis and Gretchen Peters. Otis Gibbs joined Gretchen to sing (almost) Wild Horses. This guy is an extremely entertaining live act, quick witted and hilariously funny, he had everyone in stitches. Gretchens' set was wonderful playing most of her album Hello Cruel World and all from inside an old barn, which sounded fantastic.
