Halfords electrical contact cleaner?

I've got a couple of little Mullard M8100 tubes with pins that look like they could do with a bit of a clean up before using them. Would some Halfords electrical contact cleaner be ok to use for this?

I don't have anything else that needs cleaning, so I don't really want to pay as much for a can of Deoxit as I paid for the 2 tubes, when it's only going to get used this one time. I'd rather just pop into Halfords tomorrow and get their stuff for £4 if it'll do the job and won't do any harm.

I have been using surgical spirit for decades. You can get it from the chemist, or your local illegal distillery :eyebrows:.

Thanks Stanley, might just get a bottle of that from the chemists instead. I just don't want to put anything on the pins that'll leave a residue. The pins don't look too bad, just a little discoloured.

If they are discoloured then they are probably silver plated. I used to put the valves standing up and secured in a bowl with about 8mm of Coke (the soft drink) for about 30 minutes to an hour. Cleaned off the discolouration without me accidentally bending any pins. Then it was a quck clean off with surgical spirit, and voila! As good as new.
