But I'm back......

Recent divorce forced the selling of a high end Meridian/Shahinian AV system, pretty good in two channel as well, now slumming it with SBT/Leema Elements DAC/Mackie HR624MkII's, and enjoying the freedom to listening to what I want when I want and at what volume I want!!!!

Been into music and hi-fi for 35 years, starting with a 70's Sanyo music system, progressing through a variety of budget hi-fi, up to the inevitable Linn/Naim system! Was late starter with CD, but have owned a variety of spinners from Meridian, Arcam and Denon, before going streaming only about 5 years ago, all with Squeezeboxes, standard and modified, have owned all of them except the Transporter and Radio!

Love a wide variety of music but at heart I'm a rock man.

Which Shahinian model did you have?
I've been interested in their omnidirectional transmission lines since hearing a pair of Obelisks as part of a Bedini and Creek system, twenty years ago. This was in an Audio Excellence branch, incongruously.

I had a pair of Obelisks (Front) and a pair of Arcs (Rear). I have also extensively listened to Compasses and Diapasons!!

Oh no! - you've lost your Shahinians. :( I was very taken with them at Scalford a few years back. Solid, room-filling sound.

Still, freedom from an inappropriate partner seems like a better deal! :D

Welcome back to AOS. :)

Thanks Jerry and Neil

I always thought that the Shahinians were keepers, but life always has twists and turns!!!

Certainly enjoying music again now. I'm one of those lucky people who can enjoy music whether it is on a car radio/ghetto blaster or high end hi-fi. I certainly don't feel I'm slumming it now, and my current system does lots of things the Shahinians didn't and vice-versa, but Jerry being a serial box-swapper would know that a change is as good as a rest!

Glad to see you back, mate. However, could you do me a favour please and add your real first name to your profile, along with approx geographical location, as such information for members is now mandatory.

Sorry to read about the divorce, and hope things continue to look up for you.

Still don't like 'Rainbow' though ...

Patrick thanks

There is nothing wrong with a bit of Ronnie James Dio!

One of the myriad things wifey and I disagree over is which era of Black Sabbath we prefer. Mine is the Ozzy era and herself loves Ronnie's vocal talents...

DSJR, both are good, seen both line-ups live (78,81,82, First Ozzfest, Heaven & Hell Final Tour, yes I am that old!), the first 5 Sabbath albums really take some beating, but Ronnie gave them the new lease of live they need are the booze/drug infested years at the end of the 70's, but in the Rainbow history, RJD reigns supreme!

Mark, thanks

AV is on the shopping list, two channel comes first (though I have an Oppo BDP93 on order!). Having had a Meridian Processor in the past I know what AV done properly can sound like.
