Hi Phil,

Welcome to AoS :)

What a beautiful 'old school' looking amp - bet it sounds the biz, too!

Very nice... I loved the pictures of your vintage system, too - just my kind of thing! :respect:

Do the Cants have Monitor Reds or Golds in? :)

Marco.

the Cants have early reds with orange dustcaps. one is from 1958 - the other 1961;)

Ooooh - lurvely... I thought as much!

I used to have Reds, before getting Golds (currently in Lockwood Major cabs), and they were perfect for Jazz, if that's your main thing

Any chance pics of the whole amp. I know its the vogue to do off angle close ups of bits of equipment. But personally I can't tell if I like something without seeing a pic of the whole thing.

Load of old rubbish, and laden with distortion. Wot U need guv'nor is a nice vintage PM66SE KI woteva. The extra detail will strip the paint ready for your re-decoration and clean your teeth and fillings too

By the way, the tatty old valve thing you've pictured can be readily dumped this way. I like room heaters like this - about all they're fit for in all honesty, and the iron in them transformers may fetch a bob or two!

You don't agree? No, neither do I really ;) I genuinely hope it sounds as gorgeous as it looks and the condition looks stunning too, so it shouldn't ever lose value while it's in your custody. Summat about GOOD classic valve gear................

thanks for the props! yeah it's a pristine unit. a tech friend was eager to check it out and was amazed at its condition. 1964 tagged caps with almost 100% specs. it ran so smoothly the main problem is to find quality components in case shit happens in the next 50 years... former owner used to play it regularly to keep it in shape but was more like a Mc guy - my luck :-p

You just keep playing it regularly and enjoying it in every way. Let the components age gracefully and it's obvious the caps aren't going to change hugely over the next ten or so years since they're obviously well ventilated where they are and don't get thermally or electrically stressed, unlike some later valve amps I'm thinking of, which used to catch fire and all sorts...

I Listened to One of the Reissues of this Amp with Tannoy Red's in Lancaster Cab's at a HI FI Show, It Was One of the Most Beautiful Sounds I have Ever Heard. If I had the Cash, I would Own These:)
