Sat in a sunny field in Birmingham with the Neil Cowley trio just having left the stage to great applause. The Family Stone funked the place out last night and Fred Wesley followed by Funkadelic is this evenings' line up.

I loved "Husk" this afternoon, four guys from birmingham conservatoire playing some great jazz metal fusion. Zoe Rahman also had a great set.

What a great weekend.

Soweto kinch very good and then Funkadelic tore it up with 500kw of p funk power. Just wonderously funky.

I really enjoyed husk. I don't think that they have a record deal though but I heard the leader say they could be found on Facebook.

I couldn't get any of my useless mates to go (they cried off Sunday morning) and the missus was on nights, that's 2 years on the trot I've missed it...:steam:

Friday looked even better with Roots Manuva and Ghostpoet...but I decided to watch the Bunnymen at the Coventry Godiva festival instead...which got cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!:steam::steam::steam:

Sorry! It sold out this year for the first time so if you do decide to go I would try to get tickets pretty early. The vibe was great and performances even better. My guess is that this ones a grower.

Sounds fab - although Jazz is surely stretching it a bit - (a bit like Jazz FM, I guess) - I certainly wouldn't describe Funkadelic or Roots Manuva as jazz, much as I love them both! Looks like it was a fab event, though, and good to see it thriving.
