I am very pleased to announce the safe arrival of my son, William Stanley, at 3.03pm on Thursday 21st June 2012. He is named after both mine and my wife's maternal grandfathers - nothing to do with a certain prince who shares his birthday, which I only just found out about!

Weighing in at 7lb 2oz, and taking his time to fully arrive (about 18 hours labour) Mum and nipper doing well, despite some complications over the past few weeks which should hopefully now be behind us. Spending a 2nd night in hospital, but hopefully bring them home tomorrow.

My daughter Tamzin was hoping for a little sister, not a brother, but seems to have taken to him well so far! (She did threaten that if he was a boy she would pull his willy off, then he'd be a girl - I'll be keeping a close eye on her!)

With a bit of luck I will be around the forum a little more now. :) Well, apart from scouring eBay looking for Scalextric sets of course! :) And a boy needs a hifi, doesn't he?! :eyebrows:

Here's a pic or three. :)

One was bad enough, I wonder what two will do to Alex's diet, wine consumption and occasional smoking habit??? Mind you, whether he can afford to indulge is another thing

Arrived a bit late to the 'baby shower', but let me congratulate you both on your wonderful news!

(Scalextric? Phah - you need to be looking for curtain material for the nursery! ;))

Never mind the 'Cheap as Chips' challenge. We want to know what the 'My First Hi-Fi' will be.

Congrats again

Ouch David, that was (unknowingly) cruel ;) . I knew the name Billy Steel rang bells but couldn't remember why but clicking on your link brought it all flooding back. Up to the age of 12, in 1952, I lived in a little village in north Derbyshire and, although both Sheffield teams were geographically much closer our gang were all Derbyshire men and hence took pride in the exploits of Billy Steel and Derby County. At 12 I moved to Manchester for a couple of years and got hooked on ManU, an affliction from which I still suffer  .
But 60 years just faded away like mist for a few moments before I again began to realise how old I am   .
Thanks for that ;) .
Dave.

Congrats on becoming a grandfather Rob. :)

Thanks everyone for the lovely messages. Billy and mum came home yesterday tea time and despite my wife telling me "all he does is sleep" he spent all night being a grump, waking up Tamzin several times too - net result, didn't get to sleep until 3.30am, then 2.5 hours of broken sleep. Hey ho, goes with the territory!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Alex! - no kids here but my brothers both have youngsters. I don't know how they cope, I couldn't do it, just looking after the cat is hard enough. Anyway I suppose if you need a full nights sleep you could always kip in the Landy ;)

I'd have thought he'd have had legions of grandparents round for a celebratory drinkie and loads of cuddles with himself and Avatar #1, thus keeping him awake :)
