STA12 undercarriage, very interested in any comments from those who know!

It sounds sublime though clearly has been modified. Really interested in any views or comments as I may get it restored to original spec. but then again it sounds so bloody good. Thanks if you can help. I really am in two minds here.

The Radford STA12 was a straightforward realisation of the Mullard 5-20 circuit with few refinements. It used an ECC83 phase splitter and it wasn't until the STA15 came along where the circuit was modified using an ECF82 in place, did the Radford designs really take off.

The fact that, as you say, the STA12 sounds good is a testament to the original Mullard design.

Yes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but some of the capacitors have obviously been replaced with 'audiophile' samples. Those that haven't are the original '60s capacitors and ideally these should also be renewed.
