Hi there,

I have three separate systems, for every room that I spend some more time in: Living/listening room, working room and a bedroom.

Every system that I have are based on Sony's Digital Drive, S-MASTER PRO amplifiers, whose sound I loved "on the first listening", and now I just can't live without .

Living/listening room:

components:
-Sony STR-DA7100ES receiver (I'm after one or more TA-DA9000ES multichannel amplifiers, and this DA7100ES goes to working room)
-Sony DVP-NS9100ES SACD/DVD universal player (i.Link (fire-wire) linked to STR-DA7100ES)
-Sony PS-6750 turntable w/Denon DL-103R cartridge
-SimAudio Moon LP3 MM/MC phono stage
-Sony ST-SB920 tuner

-Sony TC-KB920S compact casette deck recorder
-Sony RDR-HX900 DVD/HDD recorder
-Sony SLV-X9 VHS casette recorder
-Sony PT-79R program timer
-Sony RM-AV3000 universal remote controller
-HTPC PC in Antec case (soon to be replaced by hfX Classic case w/totally passive cooling)
-Belkin PF-50 power line conditioner/filter
-LG 60PZ250 60" 3D plasma display

speakers:
-Sony SS-X90ED x2, main speakers L & R
-Sony SS-X70ED x5, center, surround and surround back speakers
-Sony SA-WX900 x1, subwoofer

cables:
-Neotech speaker cables
-Glass fiber optical cables
-Neotech coaxial cables
-Neotech analog audio cables
-Oehlbach XXL analog and digital video cables (HDMI, Component, Scart)
-Neotech power cables
-Belkin Pure AV Silver i.Link cable

I plan on changing the MDF shelves and speaker bases with marble shelves and bases (Actually, I'll probably change the stands altogether). Also, I plan some acoustic room treatment (acoustic foam, bass traps,...)

And here are some pictures for your pleasure (some of them are older than others, the newest are on the bottom):

You like Sony kit then! :)

That is an impressive array of equipment AND systems! Most of us only get away with one, not three. ;)

I believe the classic Sony DD turntable will be well appreciated, so a very warm welcome to AOS.

Hi Danijel,

Looks like a superb room and system. However, when I click on any of the images, to enlarge them, I can't do so, as it comes with "The web address you entered could not be found".

I notice that you're using a image hosting site called 'postimage.org', which I'm unfamiliar with. We normally use Imageshack or Photobucket, on AoS, which always works.

Therefore, is there any chance you could upload your pics instead using either Imageshack or Photobucket, so I can enlarge your pics and see them properly?

Cheers!

Marco.

I've tried it with all sorts of different browsers, AOL, Firefox and Google Chrome... Same thing happens when I click on the images: it hangs for a few secs, then comes up with 'Webpage not available'.

Any computer techies here got an idea of what's happening? :)

Nice. When I first saw the pics I thought the speakers were all B&W, and I thought this guy must be a banker.

How much are the floorstanders?

Thank you very much guys, I'm glad that you like 'em :)

Unfortunately, I can't enjoy them all at the same time, but from time to time, I like to sit in my bed and listen to some music there, especially at night, with all the lights turned off. Completely different experience.

Also, quite frequently, I like to sit in my "work" area to read something from the www (I'm there right now:)), while non-critically listening to some music on the internet radio or some ripped music (FLAC) from the PC.

It's always good to have different possibilities for enjoyment, don't you think ;)

Best regards,
Danijel

Hi Rob,

unfortunately, the Sony X-series speakers (SS-X__ED) are long out of production, and you can't get them new anymore :(.

They pop out on e-bay or on privat ads from time to time, though: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-SS-X70ED-Main-Stereo-Speakers-/190672669421#ht_935wt_1396

When new, the SS-X90EDs were 690 Euros a piece, and SS-X70EDs (smaller floorstanders) were 370 Euros a piece.

VERY, VERY good speakers for the money.

Best regards,
Danijel

Great pics there...

You dont happen to work for Sony do you? Any jobs going?

Just kidding, admire your dedication to a brand... something that me and many of the other box swappers round here would struggle to achive.

I think the only brand i could feel the same way about could be Rega, I pretty much love everything I've heard and have pondered an all Rega system from time to time myself.

system synergy is the name of the game and i can totally understand the loyalty when people find components which consistently work well together.

I used to have the same dedication to the Quad brand (before they were sold off to China), and I would say (if I could afford it) a dedication to early Mark Levinson gear.

Dunno, matey... I tried it again just there. It hangs for about 10 secs, doing nothing, and then comes up with this message: 'The web address entered could not be found'.

Clicking on 'More Information' reveals this:

The error could be the result of a variety of things, from typing errors in the web address to DNS issues with the requested web address. Check the web address for typing errors or check your internet connection to ensure other web addresses are accessible.

I've got no problem accessing any other site

No idea what "DNS issues" are either.

Marco, DNS is 'domain name server', so an error there would mean that your DNS is not working out what the address is for the site.

Try substituting 213.174.142.26 for 'postimage.org' in the links

eg: http://213.174.142.26/image/dqzpes7b7/

Might work if it is a dns problem.

If substituting the IP address in the URL doesn't work, then that rules out a DNS issue.

AOL blocking the postimage.org site for some reason?

Marco
10-06-2012, 19:49
Could be... Perhaps someone who's ISP is AOL could try it?

Changing browsers doesn't help. I've tried IE, Google Chrome, Firefox and AOL - none get me into that site.

Marco.

Tim
10-06-2012, 20:49
It looks like its an AOL issue Marco, just found this on a TalkTalk forum talking about postimage.org pictures not displaying;

I use a few forums and have noticed that I can't open thumbnail pictures from this site, regardless of which browser I use, IE MOZ Chrom or safari, macbook or PCxp, likewise from other peoples computers. Other people using the same web sites have the same problem.

The only thing in common is that AOL/TalkTalk is the ISP, so my question is, have you got some sort of restrictions on this image host provider site? if so why? if not why's this happening?

Marco
10-06-2012, 20:52
Thanks for that, Tim. I guess that must be it. I wonder if the question was ever properly answered?

Oh, and why AOL would do such a thing in the first place...??

Marco.

Tim
10-06-2012, 20:55
It was resolved for the TalkTalk subscriber but there was no mention of AOL ever resolving it I'm afraid :(

I was with AOL for years and whilst admittedly it wasn't the speediest connection in the world (2mb) it was very reliable, certainly more reliable than Virgin but I needed the extra speed. I don't remember ever experiencing the issue you have though Marco although it is entirely possible I never encountered the image hosting site in question...

Lovely systems there Danijel, oh and welcome to AoS... ;)

Marco
10-06-2012, 22:02
Dunno, dude... You see, speed doesn't really matter to me, as I virtually never download anything, but on-line reliability is mega important, as I hate not being able to be on here when I want (and need) to be.

I've been with AOL now since 2004, and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had any downtime. I also like the user-friendly browser it provides, for computer numpties, and the way you can see emails received instantly, rather than having to log-into somewhere else to look! :)

Marco.

I'm with you on that Marco. 2004 was about when I signed up with them (they were on Version 7 [AOL7] of their browser & sofware back then I think). I was new to PC's and the internet and I did like to have my hand held back then as the interweb was a big, scary place. As I became more familiar with how the interweb worked I learnt how to remove the AOL bloatware and instead used the AOL website to check my emails and crap. I think my AOL email addy is still active, it has been a very long time since I checked it, I wonder if my inbox is full of spam still...

Hi Danijel,

That's brilliant - all works fine now! Many thanks for taking the time to do that. Your Sony T/T is a cracker!!

As an aside, Nick (my co-admin) here has sorted the problem. I'm not sure what was wrong yet, but I can now view and enlarge some pics.

For instance, I can now enlarge this image, which I couldn't do before: http://postimage.org/image/k39iua137/

Nick said that he'll get to the bottom of it later :)

Marco.

I don't think I'm being controversial when I suggest that when Sony did it well, they did it world class!

I'm stunned that Sony were able to crib the old but good B&W CD-M range so much. Maybe the innards are totally different, but the visuals are so similar.

I remember the 6750 too. Just make sure it's carefully isolated so the reproduced bass has a chance to "breathe" without any feedback-added bloom. How I wish the top-of-the-range 8750 had been more popular in the UK - an LP12 basher just waiting to happen, but the hype won out

Hi David,

I totally agree with you! When they want to do something, they can really do it great!

The Sony X-series speakers maybe resemble some B&W design, but they are totally different, both by build and sound-wise. They were definitely the best VFM when they were bought new. The same can be said for the used ones, too.

Ahhhhh.... The PS-8750... oh well, one day... ;)

Three beautiful systems there - very nice!

And welcome to the PS-6750 club. I came close to selling mine recently, then the correct headshell for it turned up on eBay and, since fitting that, I've fallen in love with it all over again!

As to the PS-8750, lets not talk about it. I had an opportunity to buy one for a VERY good price, but didn't because I was saving my money for something else, which I subsequently missed out on anyway. :steam:

Luckily, the 8750 went to a good home anyway, courtesy of a certain Mr. D. Price so I suppose all was not lost!

Hi Adam,

thank you very much. Can you please tell me what is correct headshell for the PS-6750? What cartridge are you using?
I tried to find thread with your system(s) and info about the PS-6750 in it (and maybe some pic :D), but to no avail .

Too bad you didn't manage to get that PS-8750 :(.

. Now that you know that one exist I am not going to give you any more clues. It would spoil the fun of it all. But please don't damage the deck in your search for it. Do a search on the internet for the service manual as a last resort. Whoever in Sony came up with that idea was obviously a mischief maker.

Hi Stanley,

I have the service manual for the PS-6750 deck, but I can't find anything that would look like a tool compartment in it :(.

Never mind, I don't need no tools for my deck anyway. I'll just leave it like it is.

The tools came with the deck, and can increase the resale value of the deck. But of course if you want to keep the secret locked away then there is no need to worry about it.

Hi Stanley,

I would like to find it, but I definitely can't see the tool department or anything like it in the service manual. Maybe I'm blind? ;)

Great looking system Danijel! That's a hell of a lot of Sony products...

How much time did it take you to amass that system and how much? I'm still in shock seeing that much Sony in someones house! I thought I was the only one with more than 2 systems in his place. That's some brand loyalty, I half expect you to be getting loyalty cheques through the post from Sony and overly ethusiastic Japanese tourists/Sony exectives snapping away furiously with their cameras! LOL

Hi Steve,

LOL. Thanks. I'm glad that you like my systems.

How much you ask? Well, I honestly don't know for sure, and I didn't buy the whole system at once, but bit by bit, over the years. I started buying more serious audio stuff since 1992.

I thought so, it looked like it had taken you years to collect all that. Are you by any chance a batchelor? If not what does your gf/bf/wife/other half say about it? How much are the amps/components of your system?

Have you by any chance tried stereo amps for your system in the bedroom and anything with less than the need for 5/7 speakers?

Hi Steve,

I live alone for the moment, but my GF is OK with my hobby/lifestyle. She likes good music too. That helps a lot :).

Well, I bought most of the components brand new. Are you interested in their price when they were new?

I had a stereo system in my bedroom before, but I prefer multichannel :D. I bought enough speakers and a multichannel amplifier when I had a chance.

On the other hand, I used to have MCH system in my working room, but now I listen to music there only in a stereo.
