View Full Version : AT95e stylus replacement
Sorry for the newbie question guys, but I'm replacing the stylus on an AT95e. How do you do it? I thought it just slid forward horizontally (away from the arm bearing, in line with the arm). However it doesn't want to budge with what I think is a reasonable amount of force and I don't want to break anything.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to pull down at some point? Or do I just need to grow some and pull harder?
Thanks
my AT13E moves backwards to be removed IE towards the tonearm , so backwards and downwards , gently does it , they may be different

It pulls sort of forward and down at the same time but it's not easy. I have several of the little sods and hate changing styli on them!
I had to use some pliers to get a grip then apply a lot of pulling force. They are a really tight fit.

Pinch the stylus towards the back and gently pull down.

You just rock the stylus assembly gently downwards from side to side until it gets looser - then it will be easy to pull down.
OK thanks a million guys, mission accomplished. I used a set of micro-screwdrivers to very gently prise it down from the back. As you do so it becomes looser and easy to remove. Fitting the new one took 10 secs, it just clips into place.
Obligatory review. In the first 5 secs I noticed stereo effects much clearer and more obviously separated. I thought hi-hats would be more noticeable, and they were to a degree, but it was the unveiling of the background instruments that struck me first. That and the reduction in background noise, floor noise I think you guys call it.
Another twenty hours should see it bedded in. Not bad for 23 quid..... Wish all changes were that cheap and noticeable!

If you think the 95E stylus is bad, you want to try the 120E and possibly the related 440MLa too. A good finger-nail is needed there and loads of care..
