Both FIFA and UEFA are Swiss based operations, so the French haven't taken control of International football, even though it seems like they have at times, courtesy of UEFA President Michel Platini.

It's Michel Platini that you have to thank for his opposition to using goal line technology.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter is in favour of using goal line technology.

I'm waiting to see the farcical situation where World Cup games make use of goal line technology, and all other European games at both Club and International level don't use it.

What makes me laugh about goal line technology is that it is not required - all that's needed is an official watching the game as it's being broadcast, as the TV broadcast crews are excellent at capturing contentious parts of the action.
If they'd used TV broadcast at the World Cup in South Africa Lampard's non allowed goal wouldn't have been in issue, nor would the offside goal that Carlos Tevez scored against Uruguay been the one to give Argentina the victory.
Further back in time there would have been no "hand of God" for for Diego Maradona either, had TV broadcast been a part of the refereeing team's arsenal.
