Thanks Mark. If memory serves me well, you have some yourself?

I fancy trying it on the end of my newly balanced spurs :). Will it work in this scenario? If not I could use it for the AV setup.

Hi Chris or anyone else,
Assuming that Tim sold his at his last offered price I have a PF30 in pristine nick that I will sell at the same price.
Dave.

Just for the sake of clarification, I have PMd Volante (Neil) saying that as Chops made the request I feel obliged to give him first refusal on this but Neil is next in line.
So at the moment it is available to Chris but if he does not take up the offer by the weekend Neil has first refusal.
NB. I do not have the original box but it will be well packed and collection from Sheffield would be welcome. Bank Transfer preferred to PayPal to avoid fees but fee-free PayPal would be acceptable.
Dave.

If you have balanced mains (which is what I assume is being referred to as balanced spurs?) I don't think you can use one of these. As I understand it, balanced mains only sees half the voltage for each pole (120v)

You can use one of these with balanced mains. I had a pair of PF40s plugged into my PS Audio P600. Depending on what status indicators there are on the PF30, it might tell you that the wiring is wrong or it's not earthed or both.

Just make sure that you try it in a conventional socket to ensure that it works properly, then stuff balanced mains into it & ignore the thing :D

While it may well only see 120V or so between what would be each Live & Earth, it'd still be seeing 240V between Live 1 & Live 2.

If either Chris or Neil don't take it, can I be next in line please Dave?

Chivas,
Serpently you can ;) but don't hold your breath:) . Although money has not changed hands yet (my choice :) ) the sale has been agreed.
I'm beginning to think I should have offered it to the highest bidder  .
Dave.

Hi all,
Since agreeing with Chops (Chris) that we would delay completion of the sale of this PF30 until he returned to the UK last week some time I have received no further response from him, despite my PM. In these circumstances I can only assume that Chris is now either unable or unwilling to complete the sale. I will hold off any further action for a few days longer but failing further contact from Chris it will become available again.
Without going back through the thread I cannot recall who I promised was the next in line but, if it does become available again I will stand by that promise.
Anyone with any news of Chris is welcome to get in touch.
Cheers,
Dave.

Hi Dave,

yes it was me ("Volante") and thanks to Chivas for the honesty and heads up.

Dave let me know if Chris surfaces in the next day or so, if not as I said earlier I will take it.

Thanks, neil

Hi Guys,
Chops (Chris) has just been in touch by PM to advise that he has just returned to the UK and will depart again very soon for a few more days but he still intends to complete the sale.
Sorry for the 'false alarm' .
Dave.

Is been very remiss of me not to thank Dave for the sale and helping out with a somewhat dodgy pickup in a roadside parking spot just off the A1 in Nottinghamshire:eyebrows:

Only plugged it in in the last week with work, summer hols and other stuff meaning I've had little time enjoying the rig recently and no time to play.:steam:

Thought I'd provide some feedback, although I'm sure there's plenty elsewhere.

I've decide to leave my power amp plugged directly into the wall, Chord DAC (with its SMPS) plugged into one of the two AV sockets and pre-amp and SBT (with its MCRU linear PSU) plugged into the two audio sockets. My rationale is to keep the SMPS away from the others devices as it looks like the two AV sockets share some circuitry (as I'm guessing do the two audio sockets) and therefore keep 'crosstalk' to a minimum. I've not used the high current socket as I'm also guessing it has less filtering than the audio sockets and none of the devices need high current, plus the startup delay could get a little frustrating. I did try (briefly) moving the pre-amp to the high current socket but didn't notice much difference.

As Mark mentions above, it works fine with the balanced power but some of the lights on the front don't come on.

Anyways, this has been a very worthwhile upgrade for relatively very little ££. Thought with going balanced on my mains feed, I would already have a good quality power feed into the system. Clearly not. With the Pf30, I've noticed significantly more detail in the upper registers and a pretty good tightening up in the bass. It just sounds more natural, less bloom etc. Vocals have more emotion and intonation, they feel much more like they're in the room with you than without the PF30. Listening to PCO Signs of Life right now - I've never heard it so good, amazing amount of detail for humble red book - wonderful.

Wholeheartedly recommended if you can pick one up s/h.

I fully expected this to move to the AV system but it's staying where it is, even though it sitting on the floor (no space on the rack :().

Make me wonder if I could make a further leap in performance with a better mains filter if such a beast exists.

Thanks again Dave.
