Since my early teens, Peter Green has given me so much music to enjoy and explore that it almost can't be expressed. His guitar playing was the thing that pulled me into blues music. His deep, deep respect of that music and the people who made it inspired me to dig into its history. His inspired interpretations of the music of the blues, his own songs and his personal modest need to foster the talents of other (often far lesser) musicians have made him stand out from his peers in an incomparable way are all incredibly touching.

Tracks like this give me the shivers every time without fail - the feeling that Green put into his playing was incredible.

When Gary Moore released 'Blues For Greeny' it was fantastic to see one of those other musicians make a small repayment to that debt by recording an album of his songs, using the very guitar that many of them were originally played with.
'Need Your Love So Bad' wasn't a Peter Green song, but he made it what it is and Moore did everyone proud with his performances of it. I've always thought this to be one of the most perfect blues songs.

I've always thought Peter Green had much more of an intuitive feel for the Blues than, say, Eric Clapton (who probably was the better guitarist, technically). Can Green men sing the Blues? I think they can, as Peter Green showed.

Never been that big a fan of Gary Moore, but would agree he was a very good guitarist. I think it's his voice that I don't quite get on with, I prefer it when he just plays. Nonetheless 'Blues for Greeny' is a fine tribute.

I used to go and see Gary Moore in my early 20s playing in a pub in Dublin...I seen him playing in a band called Skid Row with Phil Lynott,which of course became Thin Lizzy.....brings back memories.
