Yes Grant, in the the 2 for £30'offer, the Clapton is a 2 disc 45rpm effort, Cadillac 3 are a Southern country guitar band again 2 discs but normal 33 rpm, quite enjoyed the first listen - just took a chance on it, reviews were decent.

Missed out on that. Cadillac three looks interesting. Like that stuff. Will check em out on spotify i think

Some good songs Grant, all on the short side length wise though, the first side only lasts about 10 minutes.

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161231/649d7f52318439dd1d65b7aaa7ad322a.jpg

Didnt realise it was on 2 discs. Thankfully still 33 rpm though. Not sure my 45 setting is working well lol.
One of my favs so nice to pick it up on 180.

whilst my purchases are far more select these days , the prices of some of the records i'm after are sky high .I haven't yet fully catalogued my collection , its one of those ill do it later. later never seems to materialize !

Looking at a few fuzzy purchases as of late ; Tarika Blue - The blue path original pressing .I already owned this album but borrowed it to a fellow groover many years ago , we lost touch, Actually he lost touch I never got the album back .An expensive mistake learn't the hard way.

A Few recent purchases JR bailey Just you n me - original pressing
Cornell Campbell - whats happening to me
The Frank Cunimondo Trio ft Lynn Marino

The other ones i'm after are grails and just cant justify the cost

Last buy i think for some time, and not cheap but fancied it

On 2 vinyl although not 180 by any means. Nicely produced and even has a polly outer with pressing info.

Yeah that is one album that hooks its way in :D

A definite example of what "Spinning Today" can do to your bank balance as I think it was AlphaGTV who posted it up not long after it's release and I ended up buying all their back catalogue.

My Baby - Prehistoric Rhythm

Great swampy psychedelic blues from these young Dutch masters.

Purchased and signed from the band at their show in Newcastle last night.

Great vibes, I'll play some of this at NEBO

Great album I was going to replace my tired copy
How is the dynamic?
I am a bit sceptical of re-mastered new issues as they are made at times from CD copy
Can you compare to an old one ?

looks great... I see its not far from the forge. i did a lot of the neon for there when it was being built many moons ago. Not far from Celtic park either for that matter. Worked on that when being built too a number of years later. used to drink in Mcgrain's pub.

Nice one, mate. We always head there when up in Glasgow. They do a great selection of veggie food, which suits Del, and I love it, too :)

Plus it was just around the corner from where we were staying at the Babbity Bowster (a classic old Glasgow pub with rooms, and regular live music): http://babbitybowster.com/bar-and-patio/

Was superb being able to chill there, listening to music over a few beers/whiskies (they have a great selection), with FREE car parking for the Brabster right across from it! Would've cost a fortune otherwise, putting it in a city centre multi-storey car park, for the 3 days we were there, and there's no way I'd have left the car out on the street!

Plus, BBs is only 5 mins walk from the city centre. Great French Chef there too, who produced some lovely grub

I know. 1960s vintage, I suspect (doesn't say on the record or sleeve), so the recording quality should be superb, especially given it's on CBS. Nice heavyweight vinyl, too!

the old plums were the best by far to my ears

I picked up a nice clean plum Led Zepp 1 a month or so a go.

I was disappointed in how flat and lifeless it was in comparison to the idea of how it should sound (in my head) because I am more used to the sound of the vinyl remasters these days. (If that makes sense)

I simply haven't had the time or inclination to investigate further. or play back to back etc.

209722097320974

Today I am listening to :
Bonaparte retreat The Chieftains Claddagh Records (CatalogueCC20)
I have 3 copies of this and this is the oldest I could get
The first one I purchased was Shanackie (Shan79026)
Being a bit worn I got a newer copy from Island (ILPS9432)
I was quite disappointed by the Island copy as on the very firsttrack I can clearly ear a pre-echo of the music that has not started so far, maybe lazy sound engineer forgot to unwound the master tape causing the musicto leak trough? If so that master is Fluffed
So, for £14 +PP I got this last one described by seller asVG and Mint (which it is) just need to pop down to my local FiFI dealer to getit cleaned
It is the first time it is on the spinner but I have alreadythe impression that the Shanackie is the best of the 3
Looking at them the lead out of the Claddagh is1/3 timeslarger than the Shanackie
My thinking is that in the cutting the Shanackie engineerused much more space and dynamics should be much much betterer thecuts lengths (time)on both version is the same
Is this right ?
Is it worth talking about it here, maybe start a new tread forlike what is worth to buy or not ?
The Island is just a waste of money IMO

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

Mine arrived yesterday, I had somehow forgotten the release date so was late ordering. If it's like the other PT releases it'll be out of stock quickly.

I have to say every Burning Shed item I've bought has been in genuinely Mint condition and very well packaged.

As to the record I've just tried side one so far. The only problem with clear vinyl is it makes the body of my Benz Micro look even closer to the disc than normal. I think I've seen other references to Benz models being "low riders". Anyway, SW has done his usual artisan work on this release, it's comforting that you have to turn the volume up on the amp a bit to get the record to sing, so many modern releases being mastered too loud.

Pete

P.S. compared with the CD this vinyl re-issue sounds heavier ie there's more weight to everything.

2380923809461 Ocean Boulevard, I think this was his first solo recording after a long period of recovery from Heroin addiction.

As an aside between 1980-1982 I lived in a small hamlet called Brockton about 10 miles from Shrewsbury, the local pub was called the Drum and Monkey. Frequently on Friday nights Eric Clapton would visit and play for an hour or so, I guess he just used to relax in the atmosphere of a small (20 people tops) out of the way country pub.

Back from a week long vacation. Planted myself in the Atlantic Ocean several times. I had planned on visiting five record shops. In the end, I only visited 2. The first one had me flashing back to the 80's in New York City. The place was packed wall to wall with rows of new vinyl. The second used shop was way above average, as well.

New:

Flora Purim If You Will
Paul McCartney Flaming Pie
Alphonse Mouzon By All Means
The Natural Sounds of Airto Seeds On The Ground
Ian Carr Belladonna
Return to Forever Live at The Old Grey Whistle Test, 3 March 1976
The Dave Brubeck Quartet Dave Digs Disney

Used:

Jade Warrior (original US pressing)
John Martyn Solid Air (Island pink rim)
Renaissance Carnegie Hall Live
James Brown Plays New Breed (The Boo-Ga-Loo)
David Crosby Graham Nash Wind On The Water
The Rolling Stones 12 x 5 (1966 US Mono Reissue)
Howard Wales & Jerry Garcia Hooteroll?
Freddie & The Dreamers Do The "Freddie"

and a bunch more I haven't brought in yet for cleaning. Bittersweet considering the reason we went on vacation.
