Hi Marco and all. Here’s the bit about me. I downgraded around 10 years ago and managed to stay off the hi-fi treadmill until recently. My current set-up: SL1200/Sumiko BPS (vdH rebuild), Croft Micro 25 Basic (phono), Cambridge Audio integrated, Elipson Planet speakers.
This is actually a fairly decent sounding system even before the recent addition of the Croft though I am aware what areas I’d like to improve. As I often listen at lower volumes my sonic priorities are tonality and timbre, low level detail and dynamics, immediacy and openness. Hence my preference for LPs and valves, and if I had the choice, SETs or OTLs.
My listening is split between vinyl (mainly bebop jazz, classical, country and funk) and Radio 3 or Resonance FM on a vintage Sony tuner. I play CDs on an Arcam DVD88 Plus but digital has never been a priority. As a SL1200 and Croft user this seems like the place to be and I look forward to discussing future upgrade options, including a Croft Series 7, new cartridge/retip and ongoing turntable mods, along with whatever else that comes along.
