Hi there, thought I should join - my current system set-up was inspired by one I saw in the gallery on AoS, so it is only fair that I reciprocate.

My name is Aidan, and I am using a Denon DP-80 feeding a Marantz Music Link system and old Technics SB-E200 speakers. Gallery entry to follow!

Thanks for the welcome! I listen to all kinds of pop music really, from the 50s to today.

Damn, we only got a bit of a peak at the best bits imho...

I thought I spotted a rather large pair of what looked like Technics speakers :scratch:

If I'm right they weren't cheap, not seen many like that on this side of the pond ;)

That's a nice system there. It's interesting that you changed the Accuphase amps for Marantz - are you pleased with the result?

Yes, the humming does ruin it - I got a bit carried away...

One of the things I really value is compactness, so when I found some Marantz Music Link units cheap on ebay I had to get them.

At first, when I tried the power amps on their own, I was not that impressed, but they seem to have a real synergy with the preamp, which is quite an interesting transformer-coupled design.

On balance, all together they were as good as the Accuphase power amp, so I decided to sell it. The preamp, an Accuphase C-220, is hands-down the finest phono pre I have ever heard, and I have no intention to sell it, however it has been off for repair for the last nine months, and I am having trouble chasing the repairer up.
