Today I installed my new Dynavector 10x5 on my Notts. Analogue.

To do this it is necessary to remove the tonearm & thus its connections and earth connections & then replace them.

No problems with the arm set up but then the re-connect!

If like me you have more than one TT adding more than one earth connection to the ridiculously small connections offered is HELL.

The screw down button is tiny, always on the back where you cannot get to it & you need three pairs of hands to do it & EVEN THEN it slips out and you get the dreaded hum!

Has anybody thought of a better way to do it?

No doubt if you use only one TT you have no problem, but otherwise.............??

Well, there's no reason why you couldn't mount an earth terminal to a separate piece of wood (or acrylic), connect all your earth leads to that and then make a single connection to the back of the pre-amp.

Something like these maybe?

Or failing that how about with just a hole through the middle?

Sorry Julian, but all of the earth leads have to be connected to the earth terminal on the back of your amp/preamp.

Agreed it is awkward, but one method which might work for you is to use a separate earth wire connected to the preamp, and then connect this to all the TT/arm earths using a nut and bolt (or just wrap the bared end of the separate earth around the spades of the TT/arm earths).

Why not twist the two bare ends together before wrapping them around the earth screw? It is the same method required on the TC-7240http://www.beresford.me/images/TC-7240/TC-7240%20B1000.jpg

If you have a double earthed connection somewhere in your system it will create a loopback and you will have hum as well.

All good ideas, chaps, and will be thought on.

At the moment I have got there and am enjoying some lovely music, but its just so fiddly, especially for a blundering old fool like me.

There is a smarter way of doing it. Get some spade connectors and crimp them onto the end of the earth wire. That will make it so much easier to connect and screw it all together.
