View Full Version : Pie & Vinyl
There is a great feature in this months Word about a new record store in Southsea, called Pie & Vinyl. I thought it deserved a mention and what a great idea, combining something like Pie & Mash with a record purchase. The co-owners (Steve Courtnell and Rob Litchfield) both gave up desk jobs to pursue their dream. "We knew a record shop on its own wouldn't work, we had to combine it with something that made the idea more exciting. We believe in the resurgence of vinyl - combining that with a comfort food seemed to make perfect sense. There's a lot of romanticism attached to both listening to music and eating pie and mash"
Next time I'm at the Wedgewood Rooms I'll be nipping in for a pie and a listen beforehand :)

Interestingly the end of the article states that both Tesco and Asda are supposedly planning on selling turntables by Christmas 2012.
What a bloody wonderful idea! The vinyl resurgence goes on unabated... :eyebrows:
Btw, to save me looking it up, where exactly is Southsea?

Eating pie and handling records isn't an ideal match. Would need an RCM for removing the gravy.:lol::lol:

Edinburgh needs this idea!
Edinburgh needs this idea!
I think it could catch on, or ideas like it. With book stores closing and record sales climbing I reckon we could have coffee/record stores soon like we have book/coffee shops and who knows what else. Even though I don't have a TT I love the romanticism of vinyl and remember how special it was to buy records. I love the idea that youngsters are starting to catch on to it as a medium. Get the little buggers off Facebook and into a store that plays real music I say ;)
