Trying to track down a 1969 tune

I have been trying to track down the name of a singer and the tune she sang from the year 1969. I think her name was Sandy Osborne and the track was called Our Times. I was very young then, so the correct spelling and names might not be exactly as I remember them.
I have done searched on the net, but nothing comes up. I did hear the track being played on the radio about three weeks ago, which is what triggered my search for it after all these years.
I am hoping that someone a bit older than me might have a better idea.

but as a last resort if no one here can help , try brian mattews on sound of the sixties sat morning radio 2 , he manages to dig out the most obscure tracks , i suppose working for the BBC helps a lot

Stanley. How would you describe the song. Upbeat, ballad, pop, folk, rock. Are you sure of singers first name ?

The only thing I am certain of is that the title did have the word Time in it, and that the tune was attributed to a female with a name sounding like Sandy Osborne. I do remember we used Berec batteries in a Roberts radio to listen to it, but I don't think that bit is relevant..
The record was from 1969. Certain things happened in that year, which is why I remember that part clearly.
It is a rock kind of tune, with some wicked drum beats. It's those drum beats that made such an impression on me.

My first thought was Sandy Posey but no songs of the right title. Allmusic came up with Cindy Osborne but no information attached to the name and no luck with Google. I generaly remember most music from this time - certainly better knowledge than more recent music charts. I can only assume the name is entirely wrong. If the song was played recently on the radio it can't be that obscure. Stanley can you remember which station and DJ played it ?

I heard it on Radio 2 about two Saturdays ago, but I have no idea ho wto find out about their playlist for that day..

I managed to get a bit closer though, after receiving a tip off. The original tune was John Rowles - "If I only had time". The one I am looking for is a rock kinda version of that tune. I hope that might stir a few old memories a bit better :).

John Rowles' 1968 version of If I Only Had Time was a cover of the Michael Fugain/Pierre Delanoe song Je n'aurai pas le temps with English lyrics by Jack Fishman.
Gene Pitney released a version in the same year and Jerry Jones cut it in 1971.

Some of us have an exceedingly good system where pace rhythm and timing really get a chance to excel :eyebrows:. On a sloppy or lethargic amp/speaker combination it's just another drum kit. But if the playback conditions are right you can get the window panes to rattle.

I do like the track, but that's not the reason I was looking for it. I am busy testing something before its launch and the best way to do certain tests is by using music with distinctive features that put great strain on the capability of everything in the playback chain. This in turn shows up abilities, or lack of them, at specific frequency reference points.

If you want impressive extended bass investigate Ray LaMontagne's "God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise" title track, if you haven't. Earlier this year I got an mp3 of The Beatles "Ticket To Ride". I have the lp and I thought I knew how it sounded. When I heard the mp3 I was quite shocked at how clean and TIGHT the sound was. The drum work is just so. . . TIGHT! The mix is from the "1" album and I don't know if it's remarstered or not.

I posted this last night - post 11 (obviously nobody reads the thread before they post).

So we agree its the Sandie Shaw version of the Led Zep song

Good luck finding this as it is an album track from her virtualy ignored 1969 album 'Reviewing The Situation'. CD is out of print (£30-40 from Amazon sellers) and no vinyl on ebay at the moment. Best bet is an MP3 download. You could just use the LZ version from LZ1 as I believe their drummer was pretty decent ! Unfortunately I couldn't find any reference to this being available on a 45rpm single though it's possible as it did get radio play.

Ahh the Godfathers. One of my all time favourite bands. Their anthem 'Birth School Work Death' said all that needed to be said about the Thatcher years.

The guitarist Kris Dollimore does some surperb blue these days.
