Good friend of mine selling his late dads equipment.
I can vouch for the condition as it was hardly ever used.

Sad to say though 35 mm "real film" cameras go for peanuts now.

I saw a Nikkormat Ftn, with a 50mm F2 standard lens, original rrp around £180, plus a Nikkor
zoom, 80 to 200mm rrp up in the £300's I recall, go for £40!

Yeah ... It's sad for the seller, but good for those of us who shoot film and like playing with lots of different cameras ... :)
That said, this camera is likely not worth peanuts!

Looks like a cool forum...glad I joined,has a lot of interesting posts.
Hope someone will be interested in the Contax stuff....Id buy it myself except Ive still got a T90,eos5,and f1,plus lots of lenses and seldom if ever use them.
Still love film though and now and again shoot a roll and even pull out the 120 rollfilm now and then.

I happened on a Pentax P30 the other day in a charity shop in absolutely mint condition. I paid £25 for it but it was priced much lower than that! The lens is more interesting - a rather lovely SMC Pentax-A 1:3.5-4.5 / 35-70mm

Actually Ive just been checking completed listings on ebay for some of that Contax stuff...comes to a lot of money!! Much more than a decent digital!
Hes had an offer from a shop....now I know why.

I recently bought some bits from an auction of a Leica collector's estate in NY, 135mm lens etc, and some of the stuff for sale there was unbelievable.

There was a specially commissioned M6 (I think) by a NY photog who had taken pictures for the NYPD of the aftermath of 911. That camera went for over $100K and there was another camera, one of only about 11 made, a scientific camera, which went for about the same price.

There must have been about five hundred lots, couldn't even begin to guess at how much the collection made.

Would never sell my Leicas - they're too dammed good and reliable for me to part with. Used them all over the world under extreme conditions of heat, dust, rain and cold. Completely manual - never failed, unlike the battery dependant auto-everythings.

I sold my m6 in favour of a voigtlander r2a for its aperture priority ... My reasoning was that I use aperture priority too much and that there will always be an m6 if I want another
I have a Nikon fm2n for reliable batteryless operation with its snazzy 1/4000th shutter ... Cost me £25

Ok...a rephrase then.........camera shops only want to give you peanuts for them! I was offered £40 for a mint Pentax K1000 and a genuine Pentax Super Takumar 70 to 210 zoom lens together, hence my original statement.

You know what I got when I chopped in my mint Nikon F Photomic Ftn? enough for a Canon Sureshot! (£95!)

I suspect the reason many of these cameras went for so much was because of their rarity. For example, the dummy models of the Ur-Leica and of the proposed half-frame model, as well as those Leicas made in the Saar or at Midland, Canada.

They were bought by collectors to be put in showcases and will never be used.

Ok maybe there is some need to preserve things for future generations ... But that's what museums are for and FFS these things were made to be used and enjoyed, not looked at!
