Mass Clearout - Some Pics

This is a list of my stuff for sale. Each item will be listed separately once any interest is established so that there is no confusion. Please do not reply to these or bid if you have a post count of less than 100. If this stuff sells and is to be sent to the recipient, I will pack it so that it should survive a near nuclear explosion. In order to do that I will need to buy bubble wrap and packing material. I have a few boxes that I could use, and should be able to source boxes from supermarkets, if not those would have to be purchased as well. I have put a figure for postage and packing. If you disagree, please let me know why.
These items may be advertised elsewhere. If they sell I will post - SOLD as soon as I can.

Payment to be made by PayPal only and sent as a Gift. You will be responsible for any fees. If items are to be collected, then Cash On Delivery is acceptable.

Teac AL700P 3 channel amp.
This is a Class D amp rated at 30W per channel (when I find the box and manual I can confirm).The Center channel module has been removed as I intended to keep it as a spare. I cannot now find it. The amp is therefore a straight stereo amp. There are volume controls for each channel which can be by-passed for (allegedly) better SQ. I did in fact carry out this mod, which was then reversed as there was a potential buyer for the amp on AOS. The sale never came off.PWO £50 P+P (2.3kg)

Fostex 206E in Fostex 208 Sigma Back Loaded Horn cabinet. I constructed the cabinets in 2006 from Baltic Birch Ply and they have been used almost daily since then. The units are in perfect working order. The pictures were taken shortly after completion. I was going to take some more pics, but on examination could only find a couple of scuffs and dings. I can take some if requested. The speakers are on castors as they weigh in the region of 10 stones (140lb) each. The finish is standard paint, so can be touched up easily. The drive units are £118 each inc v.a.t.(Wilmslow Audio) Looking for £250 for drivers and cabs (wood was £250 alone!) Collection Only from Haslemere, Surrey.

Griffin Standmount Speakers (no info on them as to model No or name). These use the same bass/mid driver as the LS3/5A. I was offered £75 for these recently, simply to be cannibalised. I refused. If you hear these, you will certainly not want to break them up for parts! Low sensitivity means they need a grunty amp to get them to sound their best. Looking for £60 P+P £ (15.5kg the pair)

Garrard Zero 100SB.
This was given to me some years ago as a working TT. I tried it recently and it does work, but not as it should. There appears to be a problem with the automatic/non-automatic mechanism. There is a lot of info on the net as to how to refurb them and tweak/improve them. £40 P+P £ (6.5kg)

Rega P3 (or as you will see perhaps it should be called a 2.5) (Mauve colour plinth)
I constructed this TT myself sourcing the plinth, motor, platter (glass) and arm separately over many years. The arm is a Rega RB250 from a Rega 78 (yes it was wired for stereo!). The motor is the P3 up-grade motor as can be seen on Rega's site. The arm has a Michel Technoweight mod and the cartridge is a Rega Super Bias. Looking for £130. I am really not a vinyl person and this has been used for a max of 10 hours (yes) since completion.

Musical Fidelity X-LPS. Excellent stand alone phono stage in the MF X-Ponent cylindrical style. Needs a 12v AC power supply (I probably have a wall-wart somewhere) £50 (1 – 2kg estimated)

Much of the auto mech is identical, but the trip levers were "Dualised" on later versions such as yours and 86SB, with the main trip lever permanently attached via a very low friction rotating link at the arm end and running/rolling/sliding on a ball bearing at the cam and platter end. the glued up linkages and on-cam trip pawl stay the same I believe :)

The SB models are 33 and 45 only - sorry.....

The whole zero tracking error thing was a sales pitch really, since at the beginning of a record, the greater groove-pitch and "speed" makes tracking errors not an issue. The Zero 100 was a bit of a conversation piece and with modern higher compliance cartridges (not the wild ones), the sonics could be quite good, if not quite to good Dual standards. My AP76 continues to surprise me with it's basic honesty, not trying to reach for the stars but not totally disgracing itself either...

I never liked the 95's over the 75's myself - too hard and flat toned and bland in the EJ version. Bearing in mind the HE transformed the other models I suspect a Jico stylus could sort them...

The Pickering XV15/625 and Stanton 681EEE seem to like these Garrards. Great vintage fun and you may get a pretty fair sound as well all being equal.

One PS1 now sold

I have had some interest in the PS1s.
I assume they have AKM Dacs. I have not opened them. Which AKM Dac is not known. Sony were very handy at changing things quite regularly. If you are interested in these I would suggest you read the PS as CD player thread on Diyaudio. This will tell you which AKM Dac chip is considered the best. Whether either of these has that particular chip I couldn't tell you. I do not propose to open either of them. If you do wish to purchase one of these they are sold without any warranty as to the Dac chip that is inside. I have checked that they will play a CD, but not that they emit any sound as they have not been attached to an amplifier or speakers. If you are interested you can dicatate the method of delivery and we can agree a total price. Please remember what I put about packing cost.

Simon, I have virtually finished packing the Griffins, should be completed tomorrow. A box within a box, with triple protection for the corners. I happened to have some of those cardboard fruit trays that supermarkets use, these are very thick cardboard with even thicker corners. I cut the corners off and put them in the first box, along with tons of other stuffing.

Hi Dave, I have had some interest from Frankyc2003 and have told him that he can bring his amp and try them with it to see if he likes what he hears. Of course he is a lot closer being in London. If they do not go then perhaps we can work something out (an AOSer with a gaff half way or something)

I have used them with several amps (Pass F2 5 W Class A, JLH 10W Class A and a T-Amp and some gainclones) all to good effect.

I bought the smaller 760i's in the 90's which are stonkingly good, with a bigger cabinet the 780's really deliver.
