.... can anyone point me in the direction where I can get quality, non magnetic bolts + nuts. Excuse if this has been asked before and lurks here somewhere?

Thanks
Ron

Save some dosh and search ebay for stainless steel or alloy nuts/bolts in the size you need. Loads cheaper than most audio suppliers! :)

Ron, you forgot your old sparring partner again?????

I needed a set, having used up most of my stash and got some from ebay for a fiver or so. I dare say that's gone up a bit and Dave's set looks fine.

Everyone, one and all, thanks for your advice and help and sorry for the 24 hour delay in reply but have been away from the computer. Hi Fi Dave, thanks for the offer, kind of you and appreciated but I rather like the idea of Dominic's hex bolts and nuts which I find easier to use. His stylus cleansing putty looks interesting, anyone tried it?....I use VP gel (little round tub) to good effect.

Why of Why don't the Japanese use pre-threaded cartridges to make life easier... just look at the price of a Koestsu for example and you have to use, guess what, a nut and bolt?

Thanks again
Ron

Pre-threaded cartridges? Gawd man! Have you forgotten the Golbug Mr Brier with brass inserts coming out and the Dynavector 17D's in ittoks where not using the supplied ally screws and fingertip tightening can mean the helicoils coming out? All bloody Linn's fault (and my clumsiness :))

Have you tried Maplins?

Thanks Dom mate, that was quick :) That stylus cleansing putty of yours, could it double up for lifting dust of a CD lazer, Naim says to use Blue Tack?

I can't see why not!

Blue tac was for the platter, spindle and puck I always thought Ron. I'm not sure I'd put this stuff anywhere near a laser, bearing in mind Naim have run out of early ones and the prices they charge for repairs these days...

The putty will not leave any residue behind but is tacky enough to remove particles, so should be perfect.

For a second I thought this was going to be a joke thread, with a punch line "nut, screws, washers and bolts". MMmmmm.

Dave, the Naim manual that I got suggested the blue tack method, obviously gently, gently does it. I've been using a soft artist brush and white tack on My CDXP2 with no resultant probs... was just wondering about Dom's putty?

Cheers mate
