What exactly does it do, Andy? I've never heard of one before.

I seems you have to stick a small marker tape onto the edge of your platter and it uses a laser to give a digital RPM readout.

I think it goes down to quite a few decimal places so could be more accurate than a strobe.

Does not have the resolution of the one linked to in the original post but cost me about $10 as I recall. Very inexpensive. I bought it to confirm speed stability for my Gyrodec after purchasing a variac to reduce the voltage to the turntable.

Works fine and did what I needed it to do.

Oi.... nowt wrong with the Linn alright, :steam: still regret selling my 73 vintage LP12 for a ferkin PT Export, read the reviews and bought into the hype,
would definitely revisit it if i ever go back to a rubber band drive.

Btw.. Clark or is it Andy (what's with the 2 names?) and what's your Avatar?, looks like some vintage driver going on in there,
always hankered over a pair of vintage Altec,Vitavox or JBL's.

I saw this on a "well known turntable forum" and immediately bought one. I think I paid $16 inc. postage. Like the man says, not for use with the Hydron Collider but for my purposes I think it will be fine.

The Avatar is of the inside of one of my Westrex speakers.

I've had Vitavox and lots of big old JBL studio speakers in the past but am now content with the vintage Westrex, BTH and modern JBL arrays.
