More visitors. My son, Lucas, saw these and classically said: "Hey, there's ducks in the pond! How did they get there?"

Canon EOS 1100D - isn't there a deal on that camera at PC World/Dixons/Currys at the moment?

Those are nice pictures. But what is the furry creature in the cage. Chinchilla? Looks adorable.

Have you tried using Picasa to manage and edit photos? We use it more than Photoshop (well, PS won't run on our notebooks!) and it's a true marvel. It works wonders with RAW files, too. picasa.google.com (http://picasa.google.com/). Free.

It's a Dagu! :)

I haven't tried anything really.... I've only just bought it, and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing!

I've seen the dagus at Pets at Home. Adorable little creatures. I'll settler for rabbits for the time being. I can't cope with any more creatures (or children) in the house.

Do you let the dagu out?

As for the camera, keep practising. I've had my DSLR for almost three years, and I'm still practising! There is always something new to learn. My latest aim it to master using manual mode. To force me, I've put a 40 year old lens on my camera. Superb optics compared with many of today's lenses, and incredibly well saturated colours, but a bugger to use without either under- or over-exposing photos.

Definitely check out Picasa.

Thanks, Rich. It looks better in the summer (if/when we have one) when the water Lilies are flowering and there are helicopter sized Dragonflies buzzing about. The ducks are welcome visitors if they're prepared to run the "Ollie gauntlet"! The Heron not so much... I've lost a small fortune in Koi over the years to those blasted things!

Don't underestimate the digging, it's surprising just how much soil you have to shift!
