Their interconnects and speaker cables seem adequate...
:)
Anyone tried that quite deep pockets mains lead ?

Yes, it's very good but bl**dy expensive.
MikeMusic

Reassuringly so
:)
Any comparisons to similar items like the Kimbers that I know ?
Is there no hope for these people  ?
All these cheaper new brands seem to soon adopt the old school pricing.

The interconnects sound better than Kimber at 2 or more times the price.
I wondered if that was the same in mains
Don't know price comparisons in speaker cable but I'm guessing they are even better than I/Cs

Point taken, but isn't the mains cable £800??? I mean, it can't cost that to make.

If it cost £800 to make, then it wouldn't be selling for £800

Seems like a bargain, compared to this: http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/Nordost-Valhalla-Reference-Mains-Cable/product_951
Save £200! Woop, woop!!

My guess it that it would cost £200 - 300 ish to make - in isolation for materials and labour.
I assume you then need to add in for wastage, overheads, R&D, shipping, advertising, profit to all the those in the chain and maybe things I have forgotten or don't know about
Russ Andrews have a nice Silver SuperKord Signature-SD II for a mere £3156
I believe that one makes a nice necklace.
Marco.
The last Nordost cable I tried (El Dorado power cable) sounded crap and cost a mint. That was my first and last dabble with Nordost.

I need a period of rest, Mike (otherwise known as rallying my resources). Ruth and I have just paid for a superb holiday next year, so I'm not feeling flush.
However, I may ask to loan a 2m TQ power cable at some point, to feed the P10 and therefore the whole system. That's the most critical cable I use, currently a Russ Andrews/Kimber Signature. I just have this feeling that if I borrow it they won't be getting it back.
Ruth and I have just paid for a superb holiday next year . . .
Oooo, where are you going Martin?

LOL - that may be so, but never forget that men are from Mars!
Oooo, where are you going Martin?
Back to Russia (when I was last there, it was still the Soviet Union): Moscow to St Petersburg by river boat. 14 days of sheer luxury :eyebrows:
Back to Russia
Fantastic Martin, never been myself but its on my retirement 'to do' list.
Nice one on the holiday, Martin. Sounds fab!
However, before splashing out on new mains leads, you really need to have a listen to my 'Ultimates'. Trust me, they take some beating, and cost rather less than the Tellurium...
Perhaps, like you say, you could get a loaner and, when I come down, we can do a mains cable comparison? That way, I also get to hear the Tellurium :)
On the subject of me coming down, now that we're into May, we need to arrange a date, so are you free over the next couple of weekends?
Marco.

That elephant is still there :)
That gives me an idea. I'll swap my best lead onto my PPP tomorrow

Ooh I'll be there.
Much to listen to

Sounds good, dudes. The 19th it is!
Much to listen to indeed, cables, SUTs, all sorts... Looking forward to it, and to meeting you for the first time, Mike
Marco.
Great - it's a date!
Marco, if you have a 2m cable of your favourite type, I'd love to hear it powering the P10.
I think 1.5m is the longest I've got, dude, so I guess we'll just have to use it on some of your kit. You'll hear the difference, for example, with the lead that you use for your T/T PSU.
Will you have your SR7 for then?
Also, I might bring my VDH speaker cable down, to compare against the Tellurium. What sort of lengths do you use and does your amp accept spades?
Marco.

Shame as I can't move the P10 closer to the socket.
I don't know about the SR7, waiting on Paul to give me an estimated delivery date.
My speaker cables are 2.5m per side and yes, both ends accept spades.
I'll hopefully have the system rack floating nicely again, still working on it.

Do you notice any difference, sonically, when it's not floating nicely?
Cool, regarding the speaker cables. They'll be long enough. On the amp end, I've got spades fitted (as it suits the Cardas speaker sockets on my amp), but on the speaker end, it's banana plugs.
I think you'll like the Ultimates - the VDH speaker cables might surprise you, too ;)
Marco.
Do you notice any difference, sonically, when it's not floating nicely?
Yes, definitely, although if you asked me to put my finger on it it would be difficult to put into words. Let's just say that everything sings a little better when the isolation is ideal.
If it cost £800 to make, then it wouldn't be selling for £800
Thanks for explaining that for me.

I've had one of David's Ultimate mains leads in my system for a couple of weeks to demo; it won't be going back and I'm going to do a write up of the impact it's had in there soon.
I admit my heart sank a bit when I saw the Tellurium power leads released as I might have tried one of them first; having said that I'm extrmely happy with what I've got currently :)

Good news is nice to read. I have listened to the TQ power cords for a while now, both of them (black and blue), the black is very good indeed powering my amp (Canor tube amp), the blue although not as good is still a nice listen.
I have both in stock if anyone wants to borrow one to listen to. I asked TQ when I first enquired about a dealership if they would make special order mains leads with different connectors on and they said they would if they are similar to what is already fitted so as an example a Furutech 16 amp IEC could be put on instead or the FI-50 carbon fibre as an example.

Interesting - how did you get the one in the top photo to stick to the ceiling? Is levitation another one of its fantastic properties?!?! I suppose a thing like that would be useful to prevent your cables from touching the wall - another fantastic tip as recommended here on AoS!

If you need to worry, I'll let you know after the bake-off at Martin T's, in two weeks, where both mains leads will be compared in a top-notch (and highly revealing) system! ;)
Marco.
P.S Love it, Chris!

It is £399 for the 1.5 mtr length.
£798 for the Black, 1.5 mtr
Smelling salts anyone?
I think my audiophile genes have been watered down...
It is £399 for the 1.5 mtr length.
£798 for the Black, 1.5 mtr
*splutter*
If you have a £20k+ system then I guess the cost could be justified. It does always amaze me when I see systems where 50% or even more of the cost goes on cables, I'm sticking to the 80/20 rule...
On the positive side it makes their TQ black (speaker) cable appear like a bit of a "high end" bargain if they're really as good as people say they are.

Does the Black come with a more 'exotic' and somewhat less 'pedestrian' IEC connector and plug?
It's just an observation, but for that money, I'd be expecting Furutechs (or something else of comparable quality) on both ends :)
Marco.

Oops I meant the TQ black speaker cable, which when I costed it up for my system came in at £282 for a 3m pair.

Not sure as I've only had the Blue. Most customers could spend the £798 for the Black on improving their system in other ways for a better result. The Blue is exceptionally good as it is and you would need a top notch system to make the Black version viable. IMO
Sure, I get that. It would just be interesting to know, as the similarly priced Ultimates come fitted with Furutech's top IEC connector and 13A plug.
I'm very familiar with the sonic effect and benefits of the Furutech items, and thus would expect that, if all else were equal, any mains lead fitted with them would have a sonic advantage.
Marco.

Marco - I've got the sames iec as you and the other end is the Furutech Rhodium, all top notch bits; I love what it's done for my amp/system in general, that combined with Ultra Blacks have completely transformed my system :)
Truth be told it maybe overkill for what I have but atleast I know there's no bottlenecks and I'm future proofed for the inevitable amp upgrade in the future.

That's good to know, Dave, as it'll reduce the variables when we do the comparison :)
