:wow: I haven't seen any of these in years :stalks: The power amp is a cracker, though it has an unusual output stage.

and a habit of blowing up the transformer, though I see this one has been done already.

A similar set are on display at the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) until Aug apparently. Also on display at MOMA in NYC, visually I think they're lovely and certainly before their time in terms of design

Aye - beautiful to look at, but they had a poor track record for reliability. Shame.

Agree about the stying - the last time we had anything like that it was also from the hand of Boothroyd: the ill-fated Orpheus and the Meridian 100 series.

Nowadays, audio designers seem to think the external cosmetics of their designs ought to look as if it were something that had come out of a Jules Verne novel or something Flash Gordon might encounter!

Certainly are things of beauty.
They also did a matching digital read out which cost more than the tuner.iirc.

Well I'll admit I'm not that keen on the look or performance of the pre amp :eyebrows: But the power amp is different, it appears Musical Fidelity thought the design was rather nice as they make the 550W Superchargers which look very similar :)

Add a Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference TT and a pair of Gale 401s. 70s Nirvana....

Can I ask if you found them locally? As far as I know there was only one shop in Plymouth selling Lecson, and I don't remember ever seeing a tuner.

Can't help wondering why they only made 15 of them!

Blimey! £3590 altogether. Well done!

The first thing I ever bid on on Ebay was an AC1/AP1x combo back in 2002. I chickened out at £250, and it went for about £300. Sob.
