No thinking of keeping the 125 and selling the voyd/helius.

That's a pity because we had a buyer for you. However, I can't say I blame you keeping the 125. I haven't heard a voyd so I cannot really say, but I have seen a lot of comments about how good they are and I have heard a couple of Helius arms and they are very good. Like I said though, I wished we had never sold our 125, but you live and learn.

Now our friend is after a 125, but I think you have probably made a wise choice. Good luck with getting an SME 3009 a very good arm indeed, we currently use a 12" SME. There is something about the old classic SMEs and I have to say they are one of my favourite arms.

Thanks.
Would prefer to stay with the voyd but need to get some cash in.
Saying that have never heard a 125/sme combo so i might be pleasantly surprised.
If it doesn't happen i'll get back to you re the 125.

"cheap" is not really applicable to the SME 3009. The going rate seems to be about £300 ish.Looking for one myself.

Yeah, I'm not sure you will find your Helius is actually worth more than a 3009 (which seems to have achieved rather cult status).

I've actually got a 3009 - but I'm not intending to sell it for anything like 'cheap' I'm afraid.

Saw a helius orion mk 2 sell for £550 last year.
I have the mk 3 version one piece arm tube with an silver cable so would be gutted if it didn't sell for more than an sme.

Saying that i wonder if the helius would be any good on the thorens.

I don't want to preach yet again about the TD125, but a mk1 with proper new belt, modern mat (if it's a mk2) and properly set up suspension (tricky but can be done if you remove the nuts and washers preventing the top plate being removed and lift one corner at a time to adjust the springs), can sound really good, with whisper quiet surface noise and clean pitch if the cartridge tracks at 2g max..

No reason at all why the Helius arm won't work well on it. As known here, I used a Rega R200 on mine and it sounded great (the R200 bias can now be fixed properly with a new belt and since the arm has to be partially taken apart, a re-wire at the same time is a great move)

Have a search for R200 and you should find some pics I posted showing mine together with the underside cable dressing.
