wondering if this is the
best choice,, am I asking
for

opinion as there are loads on PS on fleaby for £100 and under.,

am not looking for the what
hifi rev' just. honest opinion of which sub £100 is best.

Sorry for the shameless sales pitch :lol: but I've just got a new phono amp and shuffling stuff around I have a Graham Slee GramAmp2 Communicator (http://www.phonostagepreamp.com/gram-amp-2-communicator-phono-stage-preamp.htm) that's now surplus to requirements.

It's less than 6 months old and hardly been used - so not yet fully run in.

They sell for about £155 new, I'd be happy for £100 including shipping if you're interested.

Although it's the baby of the range it shares the same toe-tapping rightness that all Graham's stages have . I bought it for a second system as I was using a Slee Era Gold V in the main system and wanted to keep the same presentation. But I've just bought a Reflex M so have moved the Era Gold to the second system.

If you read around you'll find lots of good things written about Graham Slee's kit - all hand built in Barnsley.

Anyhow - if this isn't what you're looking for I hope you get something that suits!

I don't know if the Graham Slee would be more to your taste than the Cambridge. You can't practicaly audition either properly anyway so if you go for Cambridge save the train fare and order it from Richer's web site. You may be able to get Rega Phono used for this money. I bought the MC version on ebay for £110 a few years ago and it was almost new. So there are a few used bargains out there. You may be able to now bag an old Mitchell Iso for this kind of money.

Went for the Cambridge Audio 551p Azur. richer sounds did it for £60 and a 14 day no quibble trial

Ok so the 551p is hooked up to stock 1210mk2 with Sorbothane under the feet, MP100 Nagaoka Cart with Sumiko Headshell.

Mini T-amp 2022 circuit via Belkin pure av 4.9 meter shielded cable.

To me the phono stage sounds punchy and a little bright, however both cable and stage need time to run in. I've had only5 hours of play so far but for 60notes I am well impressed. Certainly more roomin the music than my Trio amp integrated stage without a doubt and that's a pretty decent vintage amp.

The bass sounds non intrusive, mids give it a good all round spacial feel and the highs are very well handled, I've had rock, dub, indie, electronic and hip hop playing and everything sounds great. No classical though nor jazz. Am not a big classical fan but am going for a few jazz records tomorrow to put it though it's paces.

All in all I think it's great for the money as an all rounder.

No worries', there are better ones out there but for £60 which is my budget it's great. I should have mentioned it is MM only.
