After converting the ATV to sata 500 gig from pata via a modification to the ribbon cable and a adapter it has run perfectly.
I had to remove the adapter to remove the internal PSU for an external option to help it run cooler and more stable.

After putting it all together it would not boot so I ordered a new adapter and it worked wonderfully.

Being it is jail broken the usb port on the back works so with it running I plugged in a fan pad and the second I plugged it in the screen went black and the music stopped.

I even tried resetting to factory specs.
And it still won't boot.

Pictures of every thing working perfectly.

Can you check the power supply? Sorry Jeff, it's the only thing I can think of :rolleyes:

The supply runs at 5.03 v same as the supply in the ATV as it has variable pot to adjust + or- 5%.
I think I killed the board when I reconnected the adapter to the ribbon as it can go either way, still not sure what happened to be honest.

So I found a used ATV on EBAY and after some work I should be back up and running but truth be told I am still afraid to use the supply or anymore adapters I may just run this one stock for awhile,then find a deal on one I can mess with as these things are not so cheap.

Is it completely black when you start it or does it stop somewhere in the boot process? You might use a diagnostic card to check where on the board the problem is.

It goes to a place in settings and stops,I think the wireless card or something dies because it comes up for reprogramming but can't find a wireless signal and won't let you go any further. I don't even know what a diagnostic card is?

Only 30mv difference at start up of ATV drawing 7.2 amps. from 5.06v to 5.03v.
So the supply should be just peachy.

I'm at a loss from here on in as I'm not that well up on PCs or anything similar :doh:
