Hi to all,
My name is mario and I moved to UK for work assignment recently. Fortunately, I was able to bring my stuff this time. It had been in storage since 2009 while working in other countries.
I aready have enjoyed being able to buy interesting items locally, like JLTI Sony SACD/CD player with VSEI mods. I already had the Sony 9000ES SACD/CD with VSEI Level 2 mods but couldn't resist the low price on JLTI which is also more like the Level 5 VSEI spec. I also crossed over to London Decca land thanks to a local enthusiast. I still have on my list to replace my AES 300B and have my sights on one now. I also have my sights on a used vacuum record cleaning machine that will replace my DIY one I left in Texas.
Most of my gear is of the modded DIY flavor.
Townshend Rock III with Origin Live arm and Micro-Benz and London Decca. I use a homebuilt power regenerator for the turntable motor that I had made in Indonesia. Nice to be able to change the turntable speed with a click of the generator frequency selector.
I use a PS Audio P600 regenerator for the rest of my gear. It is nice to have regenerators when you move from country to country and the electrical supply is sometimes not so steady. Also converts my mains to 120v 60 Hz.
I use Audio Mirror T61 tube preamp but also use Promitheus TVC preamp at times. I like the Promitheus but both my modded Sony players output less than 700mV so i need the gain of the tube active most of the time. I also like the remote on the Audio Mirror. Also have a DIY Bottlehead Foreplay pre. I need the active most of the time because my Transcendent SE-OTL power amp outputs a little over 1 watt per into my16 ohm PHY-HP full range speakers. I don't have the space for the open baffles these speakers were intended for so they live in rear-baffled mini-cabinets.
My upstairs system uses my Fisher 400 tube receiver and a pair of Klipsch Forte II's. I will use the (now) extra Sony CD player on that system if i ever get around to setting it up.
