Wanted: A tonearm for a 1210 [Archive]

Guys,

I'm in the middle of fettling a 1210 for a mate that we bought off ebay. The tonearm is completely shafted, i can repair it but hes a bit short on cash :( So
has anyone got a stock standard 1210 tonearm for sale? If its a little knackered thats ok but it must be functional and be able to play vinyl!

Hi Andrew,

Why not buy David (indus') stock Techy arm, which he's about to change for a Jelco? That way, your mate gets a good deal, and a minty arm, and David wipes out some of the cost of his new Jelco... Win-win! :)

That sounds like a great idea, to me cost isn't an issue, but to my mate it is:) So if the price is right then, yep, I'll take it. So David please get in contact and we can do business, possibly!

I happened to stumble across this thread.

Tbh I'd be quite keen to hang on to my stock arm. I'm not going to be ready to fit the Jelco for quite a few weeks yet and also I'd like to have the option to return my deck to near original as possible should I ever decide to 'defect' to another deck and sell up.

Andy,
No promises but somewhere in my garage, if I can find it and it's intact, I might have an arm for a 1210 that was in a bag of spares I bought from Hamish some time ago. Would the job stand £25 + P&P for it if intact?

Hi Andrew,
I've found mine and can send a pic if you like. It appears to be in pristine 'nick', possibly cosmetically better than the one on my Techie :lol: but I cannot find the headshell anywhere, and it is not wired - still interested?

I have a head shell so thats not a problem. When you say its not wired. Do you mean ?

1. There is no internal wiring to the tonearm?

or

2. There are no leads coming from the underside of the tonearm where the RCA's should be?

Either way I should still be able to fix either problem.

Does it have a counter weight for the tonearm or the small pcb on the underside of the tonearm where the RCA leads and earth wire live?

I do have two tone arm counter balances somewhere but I hoped you weren't going to ask because I can't find them :scratch: . As usual, when I wasn't looking for them I found them, so I know they're there, somewhere. I'll have another scout round tomorrow.
Regarding the little PCB, I have 2 very small PCBs in the same bag as the tone arm which I can photo for you to see if either one is what you are looking for - when I rewired mine I used 4 fine silver wires in single lengths from cartridge connectors to the RCA connectors to my pre so I think one or t'other is probably what you are looking for.
I'll load the pics tomorrow to see if you can recognise what you need.

:lol: I did a similar mod to my own stock 1210 arm when I rewired it with silver. I may have the PCB on the knackered arm I have on the 1210 but a spare would be a bonus. The counterweight is a must, sorry mate. The next biggest problem is the tonearm re-wire :eek::eek:

Sorry mate, the news is not good, I've looked everywhere I can think of and some other places, some of 'em twice, and I can't find the counterweights anywhere :steam: . FWIW I think I've found the little PCB :) .
Just let me know if you want to take it any further.
