I'm after some recommendations in a Reggae / Dub direction.

I like this kind of stuff... I'm not into Bob Marley or the pop end of the scene. I came to this through punk.

I'm not even sure if there's a reggae / dub sub-genre that properly covers this. They must have their origins somewhere.

It's not punky/dub but it's good mellow dub with gorgeous basslines.

Thanks for the recommendations - keep them coming please!

Here's another one I like. The album is worth a fortune though, I've only found one copy so far. £140!

Maybe too far from Reggae (especially as it's Canadian) but, I love this album:

This is all really good stuff! Some great basslines too :D

Mike, the UK Reggae scene might be the thing to check out. I've just realised that Bristol Archive Records' 'Bristol Reggae Explosion' series is on Spotify as well :)

Arguably the best bassline reggae record ever is Prophecy by Fabian. I have had some hair raising experiences listening to this tune in shebeens with the bass supplied by 18" and larger sized bass speakers.

Another favourite of mine is Big Youth - Touch me in the morning.

Or John Holt - Police in helicopter Dubstep.

A more modern one but very interesting is Vermin - Not on your Nelly.
