Anyone ever used one of these as a SUT? do they only work with Ortofon cartridges or can the be used on other manufacturers carts?

These were also marketed under the Sony brand plus others and were probably made in Japan. The do work with other carts. as long as the spec. works.

Yes, they willwork with a wide range of MC cartridges.

However, don't expect great results. They will do the job but are not representative of what is possible with a decent transformer. Many aeons ago, we used to give them away with quality MC cartridges, just to get the customer started.
