Just prompted to bring this up as I recently saw three seperate evaluations of the Quad Classic 11L.
It seems that Hifi News and Hifi World rate them very highly, and yet What? Hifi? think less of them.
I pity the fool who makes his mind up based on magazine reviews! ( In Mr T voice please! )
Joking aside, I just wonder how magazines can have widely differing opinions of one product........
I'am guessing different souces different amps and different listening rooms.
Have been told one of the mags used to use a room so dead that it would make the brightest hi fi sound ok.iirc.
At best the mags should only be a rough guide and not gospel.
Problem is with the ever decreasing hi fi shops demos will become a thing of the past and people will have to buy blind.
That is where bake offs come in very handy.
I used to have some Wharfedale CRS3 - cheap little standmount. I liked them, so did everyone who heard them. I didn't see any reviews until long after I sold them on. What Hi-Fi slated them, Hi Fi Choice (blindfold test) liked them. So much opinion is dependant on room, equipment and expectation, magazine reviews are no exception to this.

Not forgetting the reviewer, who may well have his own take on things  :eyebrows:

Hmm Cyrus/MA - it's probably better than what I've got! Maybe I should have just read the 1994 WTF awards issue instead of cocking about for almost 20 years...(nah just kidding)
